Going to change my belt (75k) and was wondering if it's customary to replace idler pulley and/or tensioner at same time. Never had to do it with any other vehicle but these German cars are all Greek to me

If it hasn't been replaced yet usually start to go around 75k I heard, im at 78k and needs to be change soon. When u take belts off check

My tensioner bolt broke at 90k miles. Did tensioner and idler pulley as the bearings were starting to sound like they were going.

Parts weren't that expensive and it was easy to do. I think it took me no more than 45 minutes.

you are going to need the t60 socket to get the tension off to remove the belt anyway. why not just buy the socket now (or whip it out the toolbox) and take the old belt off for 5 minutes. spin the idle tension and the pulley under the AC, see if they grind or have excessive play, if so order them when you order the belt.
