Turner Motor Sports Brake Package

Hey all I had the The little Red Car on the lift appear saying my brakes are bad, but to be honest I do NOT hear any squeeling and from the performance of the way my brakes are operating at the moment it does not seem that my pads are low/ or my rotors are gone. Nonetheless I'm already researching my options if it comes down to my pads and/or rotors are gone and that I need to replace them and ive found quite a good deal at TUrner Motor sports!! Anyone ever have experience with this? Has multiple options like Drilled and/or slotted rotors, multiple choices for Pads. link....

Here- http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-22...e-package.aspx

Total is 406.95$It states that its OEM Rotors but that is with Apexx/PBR Metal Master "Low Dust" (anyone have experience with these?) So there is an option for OEM brake pads for +51$. total would be 457.95$ for all OEM Rotors&pads ,Sensors (doesn't say if OEM but I emailed them already awaiting a reply, can anyone can let me know...?) and OEM Supplier Brake fluid ATE-20(not sure if i'll be needing this?)

First of all just want to know if anyone has had past experience with this package deal? Did you get the upgraded rotors? What Pads?

Second- Does anyone have any experience with Apex/PBR Metal Master "Low Dust"? Performance? dust? "Initial bite"?

Third- Is there a better deal out there? I want to make sure im getting OEM(or better) for best bang for buck.

Fourth-Is it possible I have a faulty Brake pad sensor? because as I stated I Believe my brakes felt fine! No squeeks or squeals.

Thanks all for your time and advice!!

1. I have the slotted ones on my car now, I think roughly a year. I didn't purchase the pads as I prefer cool carbons.

2. Sorry, as stated above, I use cool carbons.

3. Turner motorsports is pretty legit. I have to say that I'm very pleased with the performance of my setup. I prefer it sooo much better than OEM, well worth the price IMO.

4. Yes, it's possible. However, I'd still upgrade the brakes. The initial bite and you can 'feel' the brakes a lot better.

I have that kit, with drilled rotors.

The metal masters are awesome. Near oem initial bite on the street, and work quite well on the track. I imagine on a street only driven car most people would easily get 80,000 miles out of a set.

The front rotors were a little warped after about 15,000 miles, two track days and a handfull of autocrosses. I think the warping came more from getting the car washed in the winter when the brakes were warm. I had them turned before going to the track this year and they have been fine since.

Don't hesitate, there are no drawbacks whatsoever.

You like the OEM pads? They felt so spongy to me. You shouldn't be hesitant about non-OEM pads. I personally think all the aftermarket pads are better then OEM, in terms of initial bite, brake dust, and stopping power.

I have no idea if the sensors are OEM but I'm sure it won't be a problem.

Well this has been the best car ive owned in terms in every aspect I can think of only im scared to break it. With my previous cars and my other car I own atm (88 firebird cant let go first car ever....) im not afraid of any aftermarket parts because I know that my Small block chevy can work with it & be fine. On here Everyone makes it seem like "Go all OEM or your cars goonna break". Everyone makes it sound like bmws are horrible in maintenance, But for the most part people ive come across here say these first year E90's were really well built motors/tranny (no American made tranny in my lil 325i ). Idk I guess its just I feel like im rolling the dice with aftermarket, but if I can get some people to back up some good stuff than i'll be ok with it. I just don't wanna break my car

Oh just did a shipping calculation for that brake package, to cali 72.54$

Well here's the thing, going OEM is just cleaner and more reliable. You can bring the car to the dealer and they most likely won't even know it's there. Most ppl just like going this route. It's not that going aftermarket is going to break your car. I've got the slotted Turner motorsport rotors with CoolCarbon pads and KW V1 coilovers. That's all the aftermarket stuff I have on mine. I did a pre-lci halogen to LCI Euro Xenon conversion the OEM way cause aftermarket lighting just wasn't cutting it. Also did a pre-lci to LCI M-Sport front conversion. Went OEM for this too cause I knew fitment would be perfect. It's really just preference. If someone's done it, it's probably safe for you to do too.

That's about right, rotors are heavy.

A few things. First, if you are referring to the GM manual transmission used in the 325i, it was made by General Motors in France. General Motors is a world-wide company with world wide parts sourcing.

Regarding your brakes, when the pad wear indicator comes on, it means the pads have reached their minimum safe thickness and need to be replaced in the near future. You will not notice any change in performance nor any change in noise signature of the brakes. Some brake systems will start to squeal when the pads are in need of replacement because the pads have a built-in tuning fork that rubs the rotor so as to indicate the brake pads need replacement. BMWs do not use tuning forks on the pads; it uses the electronic wear sensor system instead.

No the 06 325's & 330's came with the ZF transmission. In 2007 they switched for all 328's they got the GM Transmission. But im sorry Yes you are correct those 6L45 General Motor Transmissions were built in the GM Power Train Plant in Strasbourg France. So it is still a GM Built transmission. Which IS an American based company.

Thanks for that other note regarding the brake pads. You hit what I was thinking on the head!! Lol I was in fact used to American car's with there pads that have the squealer sensor haha. So I was expecting that Welp looks like its time to do some brakes!!!

But I honestly thought that there was another warning sign that pops up to tell you if your front are bad or if your back are bad. Not the Red car on a lift.

The CBS tells you separately the estimated miles left on the front and rear brake systems. Just go into the CBS service menu and check on which system (front or rear) is showing -- miles and that's the one that needs new pads. The "brake" light is constantly illuminated correct? That light has to be on constantly to mean the pads need replacing.

Not sure why you keep crapping on GM; it's one of the best suppliers of automatic transmissions the world over.

Damn your right dude, I totally didn't notice this and I actually misplaced it for my Bmw Inspection I or II I believe.

My bad I don't mean to sound that way, I love GM, still own my 88 firebird, which is where I learned how to turn a wrench. Multiple other GM cars in the family is as well, I ment that more or as a joke to 328 owners who have it. I know theres nothing wrong with it (and in debate on if its better in reliability versus the ZF). Then I thought you were trying to say it was a outsourced Tranny.

It's all good. The BMW Inspection I and II maintenance schedules went out the window with the advent of the current conditioned based service system.

A lot of Posters crap all over GM, when in reality GM makes some pretty damned good cars; I just get a bit tired of it. BMW makes some great cars, but they aren't on top of the reliability list. I've owned a BMW since 1988.

Yah so I just reset the light, my car feels perfect, No problems what so ever. I know if I were to bring it in they probably could find a thing or two to replace (Most likely suspension as I feel a slight shake or jerk coming along AFTER 55MPH, but very very small) but I don't need no stealership jerk around right now Gettn ready to do oil change though.

Lol I can tell theres a lot of animosity towards Gm & toyota on bmw forums. From what I can tell most of the time its a lot of ignorant people who just dislike them because they are cheap, or common. Some people don't have the money to buy a bmw and need to spend it else were. But its really dumb when they are if not the top 2, inside the top 5 car makers world wide.

That's sick! This is my first bmw and definitely not my last!! What was your first bimmer/beamer??

hey op if you want the best stopping power on a budget, 1st upgrade your tires, change your rotors and pads, OEM IS JUST FINE , switch to stainless steel lines, bleed your brakes and upgrade the fluid rbf660, castrol, ate etc. Ive used the oem brake setup with rbf 660 fluid and it worked fine.(EVEN ON THE TRACK).

My first BMW was a 1989 E30. The first BMW I drove was a 1977 E21. Those old BMWs, when compared to the prevailing cars of the time, just drove completely different.

Sounds like your thrust arms are in need of replacement.
