335d low power noise and leak?
last week my dpf light came on (and still does 10 mins into each journey)
it also has low power like there is no turbo charging, i thought this was the car restricting the power (limp mode?) when i did a code check it had 2 glow plug errors and the 2 dpf errors (480a 481a i think) just been out and and got back in dark and i could see light smoke coming from under bonnet. when i lifted it, it was hard to see much but there looks to be oil or diesel in under tray and on r/h side of engine ( looking from front of car) at back and on some of the pipes around same area. also there is quite a loud noise which sounds like when you suck up a straw when you are at the bottom of your drink - but louder. what is in the area of the leak and what could be the noise? is this the cause (or effect) of the dpf error or coincidence. its to dark to see much now. any help would be great thanks Last edited by ram33; 10-27-2013 at 05:15 AM.. |

Dpf warning on dash will result in limp mode = power loss. In mine the revs above 3k the power gradually melts away to nothing.
Do think seriously about a dpf delete. I've not done this and I'm £2k down and it still regens too often and blocks. Had new dpf and small turbo ( leakin oil) Good luck! |

Is the car on a high mileage? At the RHS of the engine under the acoustic cover is the part of inlet manifold which contains the swirl flap cartridges. These can leak unburned diesel over time which drips down the right hand side of the engine and onto the undertray.
There are also a number of rubber/silicone vacuum pipes in this area which, if broken/rotten/detached, could give rise to the sucking noise you are hearing.
