Ticket for Tint - Day or Night?

I'm just curious, for those of you who have gotten a ticket for window tint, was it during daylight or at night?

I have 35% Formula 1 pinnacle all around(except windshield) on an AW 328i with black interior. Sometimes, it looks like limo tint.

I have 50% tint on my Maxima and got a ticket around noon time on an overcast day. And yes, it was CHP, not local police. I hear they are more likely to give a tint ticket than local police, who have other crimes to worry about.

i think most cops will let you slide if it the tint isnt too dark. with 35% they can still see you when the sun is out.

on overcast days or night time, i just play it safe and roll down my windows when i see a cop. i have 35% all around too.

I got 30% on the front sides, 15% on the rear passenger sides and rear....Police officer came up to me @ a Dunkin Donuts?????? and asked me if i could slightly roll my windows down to meter them, I did so and then he said they looked too dark. I am in FL....30% is the min. Legal for the drivers and passengers side and the rest can be as low as 15%. Good luck with your own.

I've always wondered....if you live in a state that has say...a 35% tint law, and people who have the tints are proned to getting pulled over, why don't you just carry your receipt from the tinting shop that says you have 35%? I mean, I know nothing about tints at all, I'm just now starting to look into it. Would something like that help? Or maybe they don't even list on the receipt what % it is.

got a ticket last sat at 9 in the morning for tint and speeding. I have 35% all around but they said it was 27% and they pulled me over for going 79/65 on 95. He didn't like me very much.

They should not be able to give you a ticket unless the cop actually measures your tint. Just saying that your tint looks too dark is BS, especially if you know what tint you have and it is in the law. The ticket is going to have to reflect the reason you are being cited, not jsy "because". If not yo have a good argument in court.

one fvckin asshole (aka popo) came out of no where and started following me the moment he saw me....within 2 mins, pulled me over in the middle of rush hour traffic on a 2 lane way.....i had mine @ 30% all around, got the sh1tty $110 ticket this past thursday and the legal tint in OH is 50%
what a load of sh1t....a speeding ticket, which endangers lives, costs $130...a tint ticket 110 and not having a front license plate is 80
stupid law, stupid state and oh yeah FVCK THE TRAFFIC POLICE! instead of pulling me over, he could have helped the traffic doh...of course this dumbo had to make it worse for everyone

i got pulled over during the day, by CHP as well. Ive been pulled over by local sheriffs for speeding and they never said a thing about tint (or no front plate for that matter). But I've been pulled over twice by CHP simply for tint and no front plate (no other violations were cited).

The officer never metered my windows, but they were 15% front and 5% rear so its obvious they were too dark. Also california law states that the driver and passenger front windows cannot be tinted at all.

Hey Keysopensdoors,

I see you are in Southern California as well. Where were you when you were pulled over by CHP? 2 CHP cars followed me into a parking, but they went into Starbucks. Even though I'm not doing anything wrong, I always get nervous when I see them. Well, the tinted windows on the front doors are not legal, but it's not like I'm robbing a bank or driving 100mph.
