Update on exhaust flapper mod (aka golf tee)
I had my 335 in a few weeks back, getting the alarm installed. I had forgotten that the electrical harness was unhooked for the exhaust valve (same effect as the Golf Tee Mod ) beind the rear driver side tail. I remembered this long after my saga started.
The dealer installed my alarm, and then not only did the TCU go up in smoke, but the whole f'in computer in the car had to be re-programmed. While I was at the dealer, I asked the tech if there was anything they saw for codes. He said no. I pressed him, and he said everything was clear when I brought it in, it's the first thing he checks on any car. I then asked him about the unhooked harness, he couldn't see it in the computer. Sooooo, unhooking the harness does not throw a code that the OBDII can read. FYI. edit...aw crap, wrong forum. Thought I was elsewhere!

I hope that the TCU going up in smoke is not related to you unplugging the harness and the dealer is going eat up the bill.

um, yeah. If that was the case...I think I'd lemon the whole car. No, I told them about it - read the op.

the car had to be reprogrammed anyway, from the alarm and then again probably cuz the tcu crashed while programming it, so dont let them bullshit you.
TCU's regularly crash and need to be replaced. |

Sorry to tell you this Jason, but I was working on my car with the GT1 yesterday. There are fault stored for the exhaust flap when you unplug it. Mine was stored after I plugged it back in 20 starts later.

No, the faults were still there after I had it plugged in for quite some time. I unplugged it, decided I didnt like it, and plugged it back in. About one week later I checked faults and it was still there. So the simple restart also doesnt get rid of it.

try disconnecting the negative terminal of your battery for a min or so, plug the electrical harness back together, and reconnect the battery then start her up.
this sometime clears basic codes that are usually manufacturing errors (ie human errors)
