Who's planning on getting a GT-R?

The price tag and performance have me wanting the car bad, but the looks have me stepping back a bit.

Who else is looking hard at a 2009 Nissan GT-R?

I think I'll have more fun driving a M3 than a Nissan.
How much is the skyline?

I just dont think its worth payin that much for a nissan, although it is the Skyline. I would rather get the M3 anyday.

"The coming Nissan GT-R is a world-class supercar: Top speed of 193 mph, 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, a 473 hp, 433 lb ft twin-turbo V6 mounted in the front and driving all four wheels through a rear-mounted transaxle. Take a breath. Okay, continue. And a dual-clutch six-speed automatic you can operate via paddles on the steering wheel."

I believe it starts at between 65-70k.

It's seems like a fantastic machine. Not crazy about the exterior though. Looks like a 350z on steroids instead of a R32-34

The looks and $70k nissan are really not the attractive point here when you can get the M3 for the same price. It may be a bit slower, so what -- handling and other aspects will never be matched by Nissan...

I am patiently waiting for the 2011 e90 M3...

From what I've read in this thread. It looks like the skyline gt-r will be a great performer and competitive between certain super cars. I cant wait to ride in one or possible drive one. Ive always wanted an M3, so I hope I can get an e92 M3 in the future.

I agree with you, looks wise it's not even close, but performance wise it kills the new M3. Just because its a Nissan doesnt mean anything. They've made some of the greatest cars of all time. Go take a R34 to a track and see what kind of handling it has.

Dont think the pictures do it justice. Here are some vids:

Yep, I do agree...
But for me, once I left the Japanese for Germans, I am not coming back.

I am happy with the 325, the M3 would be a huge (sport wise and handling) step. I am not sure I could justify the GT-R. No doubt Nissan makes good cars, but...
And, again, for me, the bottom line is I have to have the 4-door car for work (otherwise they don't pay for it

I am still debating -- the 335 or M3 (e90). I love the turbos...

Take care...

Eh. Not a fan. Although it looks nice, I still cant justify paying 60-70K for a Nissan. I'd spend my money on an M3 and get it turbo/supercharged.
Handling wize I've always liked german cars, never a fan of the japanese cars.

the gt-r is so ridiculous in a good way i believe. has a similiar front of the nissan i think a bit nicer then the z. The back is sick the regular skyline look which i think is really nice. And the fact that the thing does 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, and the price isnt even that bad. IMO the car is worth every penny.

the way i see it the two can't be compared. the new m3 has a new v8 and comes with the ///m showing its agility, handling, etc + it is a bmw sports car that is what i see a more practical everday car if you get it. in the future i see a turbo or maybe even a s/c from tuners like technik, active, d/a, etc along with the normal vorsteiner, pulleys, bars, etc + you got the "maybe" csl to debut in america due to previously popular demand.

the nissan gtr is going to be a new beast. if you are aware of what the previous skylines were capable of then you can imagine what a beast this will be once tuners like nismo get their hands on it + i see the tuning parts to be much cheaper then bmw parts. yes its a nissan but surely is a new beast on the road that got the power, handling, etc to match the r8, turbo, etc.

so its either you want a more practical car and a bmw or do you want the nissan badge instead knowing it will be a true beast givin a few months . just my .02.

I'm a die-hard BMW fan, but it's ridiculous to even begin to compare the E92 M3 to the GT-R on a performance basis. I'm not saying it's unjustified to prefer the M3, but the GT-R is on a totally different level when it comes to performance - this is a car that has supposedly already outrun a 911 Turbo at the ring. I'm not a big fan of the profile view of the GT-R, and the interior does little for me, but if I were looking for a pure performance car below $100K, the GT-R would be my first or second choice. People who dismiss this car as a 'Nissan' and assume its handling will be inferior to the M3's handling are doing the equivalent of calling a Z06 a 'Chevy'-- the badge is irrelevant (except for certain people's egos), and the GT-R has a performance heritage that is matched by very few cars in history. I have a feeling that cars like the GT-R will go a long way towards changing a few minds about the ability of a few other companies to compete with BMW and Porsche.

+1

i don't recall the E92 M3 making amazing news in relation to 'ring times, so it's not like the GT-R is a pushover in the handling department. The power isn't significantly more than the M3 so this is just a performance BEAST
