What's fuel injector cleaner?

Do I need to apply it every once in a while? How do I apply it? What's the right one for a n51 engine? If I just fill up on V-power, do I still need it? Thanks!

A good fuel injector cleaner is techron or lucas fuel cleaner. Add either to a full tank of gas every few months. Regarding gas, you should switch gas brands ever few months because each company has their own detergents in their gas that do different things. Switching every few months gives you the full range benefits of the detergents.

buy the techron on sale at advance auto. i run a big bottle of it on 1/4 tank of fuel. i had my manifold off the other day and my valves are clean, hopefully the injectors are seeing some benefits too. i usually run a bottle thru before an oil change.

Or bg44k

PS. My rule for this is: if I am in the store and remember to buy a bottle, I do, if not then whatever. I think on the bottle it says to use one every 15k or so.

Google terraclean, I have had mine done last week cleans the whole fuel system and decarbonises the engine and exhaust system, well worth it recommended every 20 to 30 thousand mile and only costs £108.

Techron works good. Careful of snake oils like cited Terraclean. Even if it works (some don't do squat), there is no reason for it to cost $200 a bottle when the very effective Techron is $7.

quick question guys, is it safe to use a fuel injector cleaner multiple times?
i've done it twice in 2 weeks but i think I'm doing it wrong. I usually fill up my tank to full and then put it in.

I want to try and pour the cleaner first and then fill up.

IMO, I wouldn't use injector cleaner... I would just run the car at high load for 20 min every once in awhile and fill up with premium. I like to go back and forth between shell and chevron to get benefits of both detergents> i hear chevron fuel uses lots of detergents so i fill up with chevron once a month were as I use shell on a day to day basis.

Use it every oil change and spark plug change or 3500miles as recommended not weekly like a octane booster.

A bottle of concentrate every six months or so if you are not using Top Tier gas (Shell, Chevron, etc. ). Otherwise I wouldn't worry too much about it.
