E85

Hi Everyone,

I am thinking about getting my car to where it should be. I want to get a mix of e85, e30 custom tuned by PTF. Is there anything i should get replaced before i get e85 mix? below are the things dealer replaced already:

1- Fuel injectors
2- spark plugs (10k ago)
3- low fuel pressure sensor
4- HPFP
5- chemical treatment for the intake valves

Thanks

Spark plugs just to be safe, possibly injectors if you feel it's needed. Other than that, an E30 blend through PTF is harmless. Even an E50 blend won't give you trouble.

If they were already replaced, no. Spark plugs should be though, unless they were replaced recently, too. You don't need to replace anything to run a blend of E85, those are just preventative areas.

I read your post wrong, I didn't see that dealer already replaced everything. If that's the case, you're good to go!

for 100 ish dollars it is worth it however, when you chang the LPFP be aware you will start to throw fuel plausiable alarms because of the extra current when under WOT and, to much E85 will will cause you to go into LImp mode because of maxed out trims and the 29F code.

now most cars without LPFP can handle anywhere upto 20%-35% mix but, it is car dependent you will have to play with it.

I was getting the 29F.. fuel plausible codes already, dealer replaced the low pressure fuel sensor, hopefully that fixes it..

In theory yes, in practice not really

alcohol will absorb moisture much more readily = rust on the injectors, however as long as your car is not stored for a long time you will be OK
other issues arise from drying out rubber seals, but feedback from many other owners that fill up with E85 for tens of thousands of miles, it doesn’t look like the N54 fuel system is susceptible to premature ware from ethanol.
