Do NOT buy anything from member: BabyZ
First off I'll say that I completely understand that I made the mistake of sending money via paypal as gift to family/friend like I usually do on here as every other forum member I've dealt with seems to have been more than friendly and helpful. I realize now that I shouldn't have done that and lesson learned that it won't happen again.
That being said I am writing this for others just to beware of BabyZ and to not even consider purchasing from them. I honestly researched previous posts and sales that they had done before and came to the conclusion that they were legitimate. Long story short I asked multiple different times for the tracking number on the JB4 that I had supposedly bought. I kept getting the run around so I figured I had just gotten scammed and there was pretty much nothing I could do about it. Then he reached out to me with his number and told me to contact him and he would issue me a refund as it never came and I didn't get a tracking number. Again I got no where with this and then another forum member: boris messaged me and asked if I had received any items or tracking since he saw I had bought something from BabyZ for sale thread. That gave me the final 110% assurance that we had both been scammed. Hopefully boris will chime in with his story as well. I am attaching some of the screenshots from texts and pm's below (this is my first time so hopefully it works correctly). I would normally blank out his number as courtesy but surprise surprise it is no longer reachable. If anyone has any advice besides the obvious "Don't send money as gift to friend/family" which I learned, I would very much appreciate it. P.S. it looks like this is his site wwwdot linsracing dotcom and has a facebook page/business called get dipped in Bakersfield, CA (wwwdot facebook dotcom / Getdipped) |

And since posting this, the number in the text messages (above) which was on the linsracing site and the get dipped page has now changed to a different number. I took screenshots of the changes as well.

Damn that sucks, sorry bro.. Shouldn't trust a fairly new member with no iTrader rating. Not saying it couldn't happen with people that has good feedbacks but still..

Hmm that name looks familiar. Im wondering if its the same person that was on the truck forums posting parts for sale that ranged from 50-200 and then asking people to gift it cause the part was already cheap enough.
I usually always just add extra to the payment to cover most of the cost that way it's like buying insurance on my purchase. I only gift to people I know

Thats is why we always recommend either local pickup or buy from a trusted vendor on the forum .

Man that sucks. Karma will get him. Hope he does the right thing and refunds your money and make sure when you talk to PayPal you show them these texts. Maybe they may help. Keep us updated man.

If it were me, I would bypass PayPal all together. You can try, but most likely they will tell you they have no liability for funds that are being gifted...

I am sorry this happened to you....that bites! However, I had the same experience with BabyZ as well...The only difference, once I called BS on his lies and his excuses of shipping or not shipping, he refunded my money ASAP. I didn't gift him the money though...I rarely do that unless I know the person or have dealt with them before. I would definitely take it up with paypal or the police. We don't need scam artists on the board making people leery of buying from reputable car loving members!

STOP GIFTING MONEY TO PEOPLE, guys! I'm tired of seeing people get screwed to save 3%. If the company and you can't come to an agreement on the fee, they can keep the item. You don't see Walmart making you pay an extra 3% to cover their American Express fee. It gets worked into the price. This shit has gotta stop.

Im the other buyer OP mentioned in the first post.
Fortunately I received my money back from this guy, but it has been an all around pretty bad buying experience. Ive done around 100 online transactions through forums, and have NEVER had a problem with someone like this (hey had to happen sometime). Granted, he did refund my money, but what a mess this was. Always always always, pay the Extra 3%, you never know what you may run into when something like this happens. BMW_23, Let me know if you need anything from my end to help settle your dispute.

I know this is kind of an old thread, but seeing as this seller is continuously posting new ads and since his website is still up and running I thought I should contribute a summary of my experience. In fact, I signed up to this forum just for the sake of responding to this thread. I was searching for car products and eventually ran across his website. Seeing how inexpensive it was including shipping, and figuring I wouldn't get burned by someone local, I went ahead and ordered via PayPal (thankfully I didn't send it as a gift, which I did consider doing at one point). The website looked somewhat legit and until now I hadn't heard of any negative reviews for this site. The seller responded to my emails and txt msgs promptly and invoiced me by PayPal per my request, and everything seemed fine. About a week after I ordered I decided to email him requesting a tracking number since it really shouldn't take longer than 1 or 2 days to be delivered (even using the slowest ground shipping method) since the delivery address was local. I didn't receive a response and tried again, but no response. Figured he might be busy, or since I was only a 1 product order I wasn't very high on his email priority list. That's fine, just deliver my product--and figured if nothing else my email might have reminded him to ship the stuff out. Well, life happened and I forgot about the order for a month. Just a day or two before the PayPal insurance coverage expired I remembered my order and emailed him and txt msged him again asking about status. No reply. I do however see plenty of new ads up on Craigslist and his website is still active. I then filed a PP claim and waited an agonizing 10 days without a response from him and then was eventually reimbursed by PayPal. Now, if he was out of stock or didn't have the product, I totally would have understood if he has just said so and refunded me. If he had life problems or personal issues he's dealing with that too is understandable. But when I continue to see new ads popping up on CL while not responding to my emails or txts after taking people's money, that makes me mighty suspicious. Moral of the story is to always, ALWAYS pay people via a "safer" method of payment such as PayPal and never as a "gift." It's always better to slap on an extra $2 or $3 to pay for the seller's PP fees, than to get stuck with no recourse.
