different brand of gas
Here is my observation the last 2 months
I'd used a few tanks of 76 premium and I had a few long cranks during the cold start in the morning at sometimes after work. Then I switched to Chevron...same results...I thought it was the end of my fuel pump...the reason i switched bcuz there is only 1 or 2 Shell stations that i've seen in my city (not very convenient to drive 5-10 minutes for gas) but many chevron and 76...and last month switched back to Shell, my car would starts up instantly...haven't experienced any long cranks since..not even once...i got about 320-340 miles per tank on all 3 brands ________ Honda XBR500 Last edited by ontopofm; 01-19-2011 at 04:49 AM.. |

76 Premium? dont you mean 93? also i always go with BP or Mobil, read a couple gas comparos from professionals like C&D and R&T... they turned out to be the best for a turbocharged vehicle.

I'm not sure it was due to gas brand differences but getting some long cranks and minor hicup in power under hard accelaration. Recently had some warantee work done and the HP fuel pump was replaced. I guess it was a borderline case generating 46# instead of the spec range of 50-200# pressure. My guess is that your FP is similar...

Take your car to the dealer, its doing the same thing my car was. an occasional long crank - your hp pump is taking a dump
I replaced my pump and havnt had the problem since. your switching gas stations is most likely coinsidence the long crank can be intermittent.
