iDrive frozen glitch - theory
First time this happened - iDrive completely froze up. It happened just as a phone call was coming in over bluetooth - iDrive froze, phone stopped ringing and I had to answer the call with the actual phone, not the car.
I could only bring iDrive back from the dead by disconnecting the battery, although I've heard others say that the car just needs to sit long enough to go into sleep mode. I read a couple of other threads on this and the problem seems intermittent for most. There is a BMW equivalent of CTRL-ALT-DEL that reboots the iDrive, so I'll try that next time. But I discovered something interesting. The person calling me fessed up that they mistakenly hit the "Facetime" button. I'm no wireless expert - is it possible that the Facetime communication confused the iDrive? I thought about trying to recreate the scenario but don't want the hassle of a frozen iDrive again.
