Borrow Lenses 10 days free rental

Borrow Lenses is running an offer for 10 free rental days when you rent for 10 days starting Dec 10th. So you get 20 days for the price of 10. Just in case you were thinking of renting a big gun over the holidays. I went cheap and rented a Tamron 200-500mm just to see how it does. The code is FREEWEEK13. Must be ordered by the 5th with delivery on the 10th.

After I ordered the Tamron 200-500 I started looking at images from it. I couldn't find a single sharp image. I read lots of reviews about how soft the lens is, though. I cancelled my order with BL. No sense wasting time and money. If it doesn't outperform my 400 5.6 and 1.4x TC, there's no need to try it out.

I will be interested to read the test results of the new Tamron 150-600. I just can't see it being any good, but I am hoping I can be proved wrong.

Just change your order to one of the fast super tele's.
That ought to keep you happy.

Thanks. Tempting offer. Thinking about the 600-II.

Careful there, DC. You'll get addicted to that 1200mm reach.

Yeah, I know. I'm dead set to spend $10,500 on the the 500/f4-II, so another $1,500 doesn't seem quite so bad if I do get addicted. OTOH, I loved the lighter weight of the 500mm and the IS blew me away. Will 1,000mm be enough???

Whoa, $640 for ten days is almost half way to the difference I'm considering whether to spend. I guess I'll go back to CPS for the cost of return shipping. It's real short-term now, but the price is right.

Have you ever had CPS use someone other than Fedex for delivery? I'd love to borrow from CPS, but I cannot be home to sign for Fedex and the nearest Fedex facility is an hour away. If I could get them to ship UPS and allow me to have it held at the UPS terminal down the street, I'd do it in a second.

And with that deal it's $640 for 20 days, right?

No, only FedEx.

The price different is $1500, so the $640, plus shipping eats much of that up.
