What's wrong with this?
Just got my car and everything seems to be going uphill; from the exterior to the iPod connection. What cable do I use to connect my iPod to the center console where there resides a USB plus an AUX input. The manual says both but when I go to the Audio Menu the device does not appears. If I press USB it does not sees a device. Only plays music using the AUX which is not the idea behind getting it factory installed. :sad0147: The only cable the dealer gave me is an extension for the USB, no iPod connector thing.
I know this is an old issue but I haven't found an answer. Thanks for any tip you might provide.

Yeah problem partially solved. I went to the dealer for other items and asked a different CA as he exited the door. He checked it out and found that they haven't given me the proper iPod cable...while he suggested me upgrading for a newer iPod! Tomorrow I'll pick up the car with some new stuff in! Thanks so much for your post, hope you got your cable!

The iPod will only function as a USB mass storage device (ie with just the iPod USB cable) if it's formatted FAT32 ("Windows" in iTunes). Even when this is the case, I'm not sure if the head unit can play AAC; it certainly can't play Apple Lossless or DRM'ed tracks.
I'm disappointed BMW didn't make enough of an effort to educate its dealers on 6FL. A flyer probably would have cleared things up nicely. |

There were several Sales Bulletins issued that completely addressed this issue. The problem is that many (or most) dealer personnel don't bother read the Sales Bulletins.
