Wrong Port!!
Arrggghh. I ordered a 335i coupe a few weeks back (I'm in Philly). Originally thought I'd do performance delivery, but I would've had to wait an extra month for delivery so I decided against it. Followed up with my CA via phone & email to let him know I'd take delivery at the dealership, but he never got back to me. I just looked at the WW website, and the car's on the "Freedom," but scheduled to be dropped off in South Carolina rather than New York (where I understand Philly cars are delivered). Anybody know if they'll be able to change this en route? Should I expect/try to get some concessions from my CA if they can't?

As an absolute minimum you should get the car transported back for no cost. Tell your CA that you want a BMW loaner for the days you will be without a car because he never changed it.

I was in the same boat as you i.e. cancelling PCD en route. Your car will still have to be shipped to SC. Basically your CA will call up the PC to cancel the delivery and have the car shipped via one of many trucks full of Z4s and X5s leaving Spartanburg to your local dealership. Time delay is almost negligble. I tracked my car obsessively and I noted down a grand total of 4 days from discharge from the VPC to my dealership lot in Maryland. It took an additional 2 days to reach SC from NY/NJ. In my case it took 2 days to go through the VPC at SC, they might be more efficient than NY/NJ, possibly levelling off the wait times a bit more. Good luck.

As stated above you shouldn't worry. As long as your CA has cancelled it before it releases from the VPC, you are ok. If it gets releassed from the VPC before it is canceled and changed to ship to your dealer, they would then truck the vehicle to us.

NY/NJ port is actually busier(more arriving ships daily, where as only like 3 cargo ships at a time docked in SC), even though it's larger. However from what my dealership told me was that VPC time was considerably faster in SC than in NJ. So if you miss getting the reroute done, the time difference between getting off the boat in NJ or SC will be almost completely negligible.
