325I Misfire

Hello all !! I need some help. I have a 2006 325I with 107,000 miles the other day I fired it up and it was missing so I scanned it misfire on 3 and 5 cylinders and P0017 code's so I started with replacing the plugs and that was no help same codes so I swapped coils around found 2 were bad so I replaced them and now I have 1 2 3 cylinders with no spark, I checked power going to all coils reading around 14.5 volts I have cleaned the vanos solenoids still same thing ! so my question is could the vanos cause 3 cylinders not to fire ? It is very confusing Do I have a injector problem ? any advice would appreciated.

Wrong gap on the plugs? Didn't install coils correctly?

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

The plugs gap is pre set with no adjustment. The coils are pretty straight forward for replacement not sure that can be messed up. All coil plugs are secure with power, it is running in limp mode right now on 3 cylinders. If I pull the coils off 1 2 and 3 it still runs 4 5 or 6 one at a time there is a major difference.

In theory they are pre-gapped. In my experience, they were way off.

Where did you get the plugs from? I went to a standard auto parts store and bought the platinum plugs but those plugs were throwing codes in my 2006 330i sedan so I got my money back and ordered Iridium plugs. They are more expensive but OEM. I replaced plugs, tested wires and Read on the Forums that you really need Iridium plugs.

Good luck, let us know if that is the fix.
