Question: Extended Full Maintenance on '06 330i
Hi All,
My local BMW dealer, BMW of Sterling in Sterling Virginia quoted me $2,195 for a maintenance extension on my '06 330i today. Yes, this is maintenance, NOT warranty. This seems way over the top to me - most of the posts on here (although a few months old) seem to be around $1,200. There are some mentions of the price going up, but it seems like I am being quoted an awful lot. What is a reasonable price to expect to pay for this now in Nov '07? Still $1,200-ish? Less? More? Thanks!! |

I recommend you do that math. For all intensive purposes you'll probably get 2 oil changes out of that which you can do yourself for a total of ~$120. Brakes are no big deal. An Indy shop should be able to do those cheap. (Call around??).
If you do opt for the maintenance plan, make sure it includes coolant/brake flushes. |

Gah! It's for all intents and purposes!
is there a "grammar nazi" smilie yet? Other than that, yeah, what he said. Dealer maintenance is a always rip-off unless you plan on taking your car to the dealership for all work and you're happy with the BMW schedule. If that's actually your plan, then paying ahead is only "maybe" a rip-off. I mean, really... is fear of a couple-hundred$ unexpected charge really worth payment up front? Scheduled maintenance is an almost 100% predictable expense. Just run your numbers. For giggles, try running the numbers for both your dealership and a reputable independent shop. You'll probably feel like a sucker |

$1895
It's $1895 here in Portland. So I have been looking around, but can't find a maintenance schedule for my 06' 330i...... so what exactly is the scheduled maintenance between 50000 and 100000? I have a hard time believing its $1895 worth, but I could be wrong. Anyone have the specifics?

Maint costs:
Standard Scope(performed @ every maint service) - $60.08 Oil/Filter - $174.75 (15K miles) Air Filter - $41.50 (?) Spark Plug - $374.60 (every 100K miles) Brake Fluid - $114.60 Antifreeze - $127.07 R/R Brake Pads & Rotors (front and back - diff times per driving habits) - $1,240.96 Wirer Blades - $88.45 * All this performed just once - $2,308.89 I think I am going to sign up for this just prior to the 50K mile mark. I'm at 43 K miles now. Anyone else? BTW - Dealer indicated the maint. service contract is extending by 50k miles or 2 years (which ever comes first). Refer to specific in-car display for maint schedule... |
