getting 19" CH's from tirerack... have a question though.

On tirerack's site it only lists the rear 19x9.5 CH's as having a 40mm offset. I've seen posts with people who have offsets much smaller. How does one go about getting the rears with an offset closer to 30... will it cost more. What's the deal?

M3 offsets are desirable (for their concavity) but are too agressive for some setups (might require rolling/fenderwork/cambering). I added 10mm spacers to my rear CH setup to nett the optimal ET30 offset on the E90, I'm happy with it. AFAIK, they do not come in ET30 setup, in fact more and more BBS wheels come with standard offsets and recommend spacers to bring them closer, if desired.

I guess my next question then... can I safely run spacers on an AWD car? Will that screw anything up, or should I be good? 19x8.5 19x9.5 with 10mm spacers in the rear?

I don't think running spacers is an issue with AWD. The big thing is minimizing the difference in outer tire diameter between fronts and rears when running a staggered fitment. The difference in diameter can cause stress and wear on the center differential since the fronts and rears have different rpms.

KL2DC, for ET 30 in the back, are you fine with 4 passengers in the car?
or u need a little bit fender rolling? Thx

What setups are you referring to here? Coil overs? Will it work for e90 non Xi with H&R?

Yes, you will be fine. We run spacers on our race Evos and they have been abused at the tracks with no problems.

The only thing with AWD car that you should look out for is that when the car is towed somewhere..it's absolutely necessary to flat bed it. If you use the regular towing system where 2 wheels are dragged on the road...that will be an issue because all 4 wheels are not going at the same speed.

Back at the topic on hand, go with 10mm spacers for coupe, 15mm spacers for sedan on the 40 offset and you will be fine.

I have a 40 offset wheel in the rear, with 15mm spacers. I'm also slammed, top of the tire sits in the fender well. It's as flushed as I can get without going with M3 offset. I only use to rub mildly if I have 2 fat passengers in the rear. Now I don't anymore because I had the rear fenders slightly rolled.
