POTHOLES
I've just about had it!
Two to three rims a year, two tires and two rims in the last two weeks!! anyone else feeling my pain? I want to seek legal action on these townships that keep enormous holes unmarked on their roadways. what the hell are they doing with our taxes? |

Are you kidding? In the great city of Philly? Road are smooth as glass. A couple of years ago, I saw an incredibly large and deep pothole on the I676 on ramp next to the Art Museum. I made a note to avoid it at all costs. The next time I went through, the pot hole was filled...with somebody's wheel, hub and control arms. That pothole tore the suspension right off of a car. True to form, the car was removed, but the suspension was still there. A week later, the crack staff at PennDOT had remedied the situation: they had removed the suspension and put an orange cone in the hole.

my tire guy that I went to last week use to work for BMW and his wife still does.
Up until recently he had always owned BMWs, he had a 550i and a recent f30 (328). He said the cost of ownership made him switch to a mazda 6 and he's perfectly happy. I said but you should be under warranty still on the F30 - so what cost? He said rims and tires!! |

I have soft Chinese M6 reps that I run in the summer. You better believe I know where all the bumps and potholes are!. So now as I drive around on the philly area roads that are literally crumbling underneath me I am adding all the new potholes to my mental list to prepare for when I switch back over. I am running heavy, hideous OEM style 158 rims now which are tough as nails but ugly as sin.

The first day that I got my car, I hit the same pothole twice. Forgot about it the second time because at the same time, a piece of ice flew off a bridge and smashed across my windshield - breaking off one of my wipers. Needless to say, my alignment was ruined within one day of ownership.

too many potholes to count. its especially more annoying when you know where they are so you slow down & people continually will ride your ass. i hope they fly through & hit those potholes one day at full speed you just can't win in the five boroughs, all our money goes to the damn sports teams instead of the roads

I have hit some big pot holes in Philly before ..especially on and near lincoln drive. bent my 2 piece Volk wheels and popped a tire on my BBS wheels. Of course I go back few days after to take pics and the holes are filled in

advice - don't go 19" unless you accept the fact that you're getting 1 or 2 tires and rims. If you end up being super careful and not needing to, then you're allowed to feel very lucky. But don't count on it - just like going to a casino.

The problem that i have is one day the road will be perfect, then next day because of the plows in buffalo they rip holes in pavement overnight, so you cant just plan a route to avoid them, i have learned to take evasive action when i see potholes to avoid replacement, have to admit though sometimes i catch myself weaving around shadows lol.

Pittsburgh blows man. I totally feel you. Then I hate myself and cringe for the next mile after hitting a bad one...
