Lower control arms and bushes?
Hi all,
i have an e92 335d m sport and recently have been noticing juddering under braking, more so when only lightly pressing the pedal. Sometimes it is more violent than others. At first i presumed it was warped discs, however when i got under the car i noticed that the brake reaction bushes are covered in what looks like oil/fluid residue. Is this a common issue for e92's? Dont really want to pay to replace discs and pads on the front as these were done not that long ago so dont see how they are warped. Does anyone have any ideas to costs/work involved, and if I can just replace the bushes or would it need to be the whole arm? Thanks |

Is the judder not more likely to be caused by something connected with the recent pad/disc change? Often the cause of judder is failure to clean (to spotless standards) the mating surfaces between disc and hub. A fragment of rust can cause significant judder - more noticeable under light braking.

I have this exact same issue with my 335d.
I am going to have my car up in the air tomorrow for an inspection but so far I have put it down to uneven conditioning. Whilst I have the wheels off I may pop the dial gauge on and see if there is in fact any run out. There was a good page suggested in another thread with information around brakes.. http://www.stoptech.com/technical-su...nd-other-myths |

cheers for the advice, took the car to my mates today to look at (a bmw tech at my local dealers) discs are fine, did a run out test and no issues with them. Both bushes have failed (covered in hydraulic fluid) and there is a lot of play in both arms, especially around the ball joints. He also recommended the M3 arms so have got some of those on order for him to fit next week.
Fingers crossed that will sort it. Thanks for the advice all! |

You'll need upper and lower arms as they are matching.

Well I had my car in the air this afternoon and checked the front brakes for run out.
There was a little bit but not excessive. I stripped it all down and cleaned up the mating surfaces. Less runout afterwards so fingers crossed. I think my front bearings may be on the way out, but they look easy enough to change so will look at getting some replacements. The upper control arms had a bit of movement when pull and pushed on, is this normal?area is the sum of all sides Undecided whether to replace them as a matter of course before my alignment/geo setup at WIM. Does anyone know of a good place to get TRW parts?? |

Looks likes prices are around the £45 mark for non-m and around the £65 mark for m.

New arms all fitted and made a huge difference to the handling of the car.
Had an issue when they did the alignment and tracking that the bolt for loss ending the track rod end snapped! So ended replacing both sides at the same time too |

JTC1428 (Item 17)
JTC1429 (Item 17) JTC1430 (Item 18) JTC1431 (Item 18) They should all fit and replace the standard items. JTC1432 doesn't fit non M cars apparently (Item 13).
