Ship more cars in a container ?

Hi everybody,

I had a dealership in UK and I will open my dealership on the east coast or Australia. I want to sell cars from UK and my question is about the number of cars in a 40 HC container. I heard a product which allow me to ship between 4 and 6 cars in 1 container. This one could allow me to reduce my costs. I can't remember the name of the product. Someone can help me ?

Thank you for your help.

Will depend on the size of the car. Most 40ft will only hold 4 cars but specialized companies maybe able to squeeze in 5/6 with a 40ft high. They use steel wires to hang one car from the front wheels and hang it from inside top hook loops that are welded inside the container top corners and then roll in next car under it. First car front end will be hanging and second car's hood will come under that first car's front tires. If not done properly car can fall and be damaged.

Best to consult a freight forwarder with knowledge and contacts in car transportation.

It depends upon the size of the vehicles. My father used to import cars for the US for restoration and welded in framework to the containers allowing him to fit 12 from memory, 3 rows of 3 and three on their side.

I'd suggest with modern cars you'd be looking at 4.

EDI customs broker are currently working on something I believe..they have a video on website about fitting 4exotic imports into a container loaded on steel ramps..maybe worth a look? If you do go ahead with this, I would seriously consider an m5 wagon for me..either e60 or f10 if it becomes available..grey with red leather please..yummy..
