Everyone's input on your components
I'm ready to purchase a pair of components and am completely lost as to what I should expect from each brand. I know who the "top" brands are, but I don't know how any of them sound. Hopefully this thread will help myself and others choose a set of speakers by hearing what everyone has to say about their own set of aftermarket speakers. Frequency responses, how they sound in the car, harshness, anything that you guys think will be informative I'm sure we would all appreciate! Thanks

I saw this the other day I thought it was interesting.
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/News/....aspx?id=13744 Here are a few other options. http://www.jehnert.de/2011/09/28/bmw...unting-places/ http://www.mbquart.com/mbquart_bmw_speakers.html I have Morel Hybrid Ovation II's and Jehnert XE200 underseats. They sound great with any type of music, and I don't think they are harsh at all. The Morels and Jehnerts are a really good combo if your not on a tight budget. I recommend an amp that does at least 100 watts rms at 4 ohms if your going for sq. |

Yeah it seems like everyone talks up the morel hybrids to be the best hands down..I've got the xd700/5 so there should be plenty of power for any of these speakers. Are the morel hybrids supposed to be the best of their line? or the only ones that fit e90's? I'm looking for a speaker that wont take too much work to pop in because I'll be doing it myself and I'm pretty inexperienced..

Also, has anyone had experience with focal's IFBMW-s speakers? I've heard pretty good things about them, and then I read that someone thought they were harsh....I'm guessing that this person didn't recode or use a processor.

The Hybrids are as good as it gets for a complete drop in aftermarket set. The only way to get higher quality is to buy separate high quality (expensive) mids and tweeters and run them active.

My Front Soundstage consists of CDT HD-42 in the doors high-passed at 200 Hz and a pair of CDT ES-06 6.5 inch midrange drivers in fiberglass enclosures low-passed at 400 Hz (all powered by a four-channel amp). My rear channel is a Hertz EBX 202R dual 8" subwoofer low-passed at 70Hz (powered by a two-channel sub amp). I took the line out off the rear channel for my amps and moved the front line-out to the rear speakers to retain the OEM amp for the cell phone and warning gongs through the oem rear speakers (I dont often have rear passengers so I wanted my front soundstage to be the best with the sub behind the rear seat doing the heavy lifting for the deep bass).

anyone got any input on the IFBMW-s focals? I'd love to get the hybrids but I dont think I have the budget to drop 800 dollars on a pair of speakers right now.

I've always heard focals are a little harsh, but I've never heard them myself. The jehnert or mb quartz kit would probably be a better option.

I havn't heard too much about jehnert 4''s, only how the underseat woofers are nice, but I already have sws-8's ready. Where can someone buy jehnerts from?
