the M5 auto knob post?

i remember reading a thread about someone putting an m5 auto shift knob on the 3 but i cant find it.. anyone know what im talking about?... id like to do this mod.

auto m5 knob? Never heard of that. I think you mean the SMG knob.

Personally, i think it'll look pretty dam weird for a auto to have the SMG knob, specially the m5 one. If anything, maybe the e46 m3 smg knob will look better.

I'll hold off on judgement till i see pics i guess.

First of all, this looks great

Some questions:

- Is your car a RHD ? It looks like that. On LHD cars the D/S mode is in the other direction.
- The letters "N" and "R" - when are they illuminated ( if ever ). They don't fit to the steptronic, IMO. Any suggestions ?

the shift points on the shifter doesnt match the actual shifting patterns on the 3 though. so everything is just for looks? still looks hot though, but it'd be better if it actually matched and worked simultaneously

its a nice mod but you guys realize that the function on the shift knob doesnt match up with your auto. like our reverse is just down not like the smg to the left and such.
