tvandnav2go

Hey everyone,
I sent this to sales@tvnavandgo.com and didn't really got pretty much a canned response that only answered one of my questions, maybe you guys can better assist.

"[with tvandnav2go]I would like to watch DVD's on the nav screen, would I have to purchase another DVD player or would the DVD/CD slot on the nav its self work? How would I be able to watch TV and DVD's, is it another selection in the main nav menu? And finally, how are the TV channels received, how many channels are received and will I stop getting TV when the cable companies stop using analog signal on February 17, 2009? If I would be losing the signal when the analog channels go dark can I have the unit installed with some type of receiver that would enable me to receive digital channels?"

Thanks for any help you guys can give.

you have to buy another dvd player. the module only allow you to use the OEM monitor to view other sources. if you want to watch tv, you buy a tv tuner. you can add a back up camera to it also.

Thank you. Isnt it kind of pointless now though, since there wont be anymore analog signals it wont pick up any type of TV.

Digital signals are still sent over the air... HD radio is an example. When the digital switch on TV occurs you will just need a D/A converter to display the digital signals on the analog tvs.

i actually went around to get price quotes and it varied. some shops quoted me 400-600 just for install. i called back dom from navandtv2go and he said the avg price for the install of the unit should be around 300-350. i have heard from others that they were only charged 160. i truly think that the install of this whole system would take about 3 hours for a pro if not shorter. installing this in my car took me forever because i had no clue what to do. i just followed the diy and listened to the people that pm'ed. i did this whole setup on another car and it probably took me about 4-5 hours total to get it completely done.

there are other types of cameras you can get, but i chose this one so i wouldnt drill into the body of the car.

Did screen automaticly switch to rear camera when you swich shift to "R"?
My wife MDX already has this, don't understand why BMW charge $475 for parking assistaant control, when $25 camera can make such a big difference.

yes it switches automatically when the car is in reverse. it is triggered off of the passenger side reverse light. i also had an additional video source to view my reverse camera in drive; if i wanted too. i just switch it to video source 3 and it shows me whats goign on behind me. haha. i just did it since i had an extra video source slot.

Now i just need to do the backup cam but that one seems really complicated and there's no way i'm drilling anything in my car.

i was gonna do a new write up for that when i installed another reverse camera on my buddy's red e90, but i forgot to bring the camera. its really not that complicated. its just feeding the wires thru the rubber tubing from the trunk lid to the trunk that is hard. the tubing is only about a foot long, but its the most time consuming part. once you get that part done; its pretty easy the rest of the way. i like my license plate camera mod, but i may change out the camera a few years later down the road. i just dont feel comfortable permanently affixing somethign like that to the car.
