Headlight lens crack

the light is still working. But right side lens is cracked . Also the same headlight's halo bulb is burnt out..(both of them not lighting)

What should i do? dealer said buy full headlight assembly for 1200..
I cant spend that much for a silly mistake of mine. Also i just spend 700$ at dealer.

I am thinking replace halo bulbs & replace lens at same time.

For lens, i am thinking a junkyard search. does a e92 headlight lens fit mine? What about a E60?
Should i just patch up with a seal/adhesive/3M lens repair fil (if it doesn't look bad from few feet away) .
How long i have before i should repair it.? (moisture getting in and damaging something)

Does non Xenon non adaptive headlight lens work in mine (Xenon adaptive)?

Appreciate your help.

I think you can replace just the cover. Look for it on ebay. Or you can just buy any cheap broken headlight and replace from it. For halo bulb-you will also need to replace it.
Non xenon headlight will work for you if that what you're asking

E92 won't work if you have e60.

hopefully this helps...found this on ebay. Its an OEM halogen right headlight

http://www.ebay.com/itm/06-07-08-BMW...23c53f&vxp=mtr

There asking $200 obo + $40 shipping. Probably could get it for $200 shipped or even cheaper.

Could use the lens.

I have a set of prelci halogens. The passenger side turn signal overheated, but the lens is in good condition with a clear film. I'd be willing to sell it for a good price. PM me if your interested.

It would be the same procedure as if you were to break open the headlights to black them out or change to LED AEs. You will have to heat the black plastic with a hair dryer and pry it back until you are able to cut at the permaseal

You cant buy the lens separate, you would need to buy an entire housing. Sometimes e-bay has them for $75 or less. Its a few hour process to open the headlights as well, and then there are risks of not sealing them correctly.

what is the suggested way to clear the amber reflector? putting a film outside lamp??

is there a led ring that will be as visible as a Audi DRL? the ones i searched this far seem not so bright at sunlight.

If you send your headlight to observe or oneighty or lightmodz etc they take your headlights and open then paint the chrome if you want then put Angel eyes that have leds in them and are brighter than audi drl. Also the reflector can be replaced or wrapped or painted form the inside when they open it.
Also if you wanna get an idea how they look search for the custom headlight thread on photo subforum and search oss headlights you should get a lot of results. Probably one of the best mods for the car

Thanks.
May be i misunderstood.
is it that in order to get as bright as ,say Audi or latest BMW , i have to change not just the halo bulbs, but the halo rings as well. .. And this means opening the headlights.

You can just use a tab repair kit and install that one. Might be the better way to go if the headlight works fine (You can test by plugging it in before you install)

This way you don't need to worry about resealing.

+1 on the above.
Did it before.
Works great.

Ps: I would go this route as taking apart 2 lights to get one is way too much.

ssmith96,
Thanks for the suggestion. I checked with technicians at my work. He was of the opinion that poly propylene is difficult to repair/attach parts properly. Also light housing is 30% glass filled. Not sure now.

DarkNemesis,
How long did you do the repair ? Was it on a BMW lamp housing,. I just wanted to see chance of success rate..
