question about angel eye rings

On my pre-lci 330 recently one of the rings on the passenger side stopped working, so in total 3 rings were on and one off. When I went to replace the bulb with a led aftermarket bulb, I notice that the OEM bulb is halogen with a single bulb used to light both rings. Can someone explain why only one ring was working, when both should be lit by the single bulb as is the case on the drivers side.

I think there is an fiber optic cable that takes the light from the bulb to the ring . . maybe one of the cables came out of the holder.
