Rearview mirror garage opener

Just wondering has anyone been able to pair their rearview mirror with a garage door opener (on e90, e70 or other)? I've been having troubles even while following the instructions in the manual of the car. Do I need an adapter like the homelink system to make the buttons on the rearview mirror work?

Has anyone opened up their garage door remote and rearview mirror and "MacGyver fitted" the garage remote in the rearview mirror somehow?
Really don't want to do this but if times get really rough, just maybe....

I've been frustrated with this for a few years now and would really love to see those damn rearview mirror garage door buttons work!

Will try this once again....: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...+mirror+opener

you have to follow the instructions to a t. you also need to know if your garage door has a rolling code or not. make sure to have someone by the opener to hit the learn button pronto and you'll be good to go.

I had problems with the new door I installed - apparently my 08's home link is out dated - so I had to buy this adapter that basically has an older push button remote and transmits that signal to this black box that then sends the right signal to the garage door - so I had to program my car with the push button that came with the adapter... problem is either the adapter antenna sucks or my car's homelink sucks... probably both...

Garage List
I have a 2008 335i E90 that I bought a month ago. I used the instructions in the Owner's Manual and the info I found in Post #6 in the following thread to pair the roaming opener in my garage to the mirror controls in my car:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...rage+issues%3F

So, unlike the above, the Homelink for my 2008 E90 was not outdated and did not require an adapter to make it work. Good luck!

I found it helped to hold the remote I was programming right up against the back of the mirror, it wouldn't learn ("hear"?) the code until I held it there on advice of a forum post!

If the opener has a rolling code, which most do, you should not pair a garage door remote to your rear view mirror remote. You need to follow instructions from the garage door opener and pair the car to it (push the red button on the back of the opener itself, etc). The range is not awesome but they do work.

Just did it first time, using instructions provided by the dealer at purchase.

1. Park outside of garage & start car.
2. Press & hold left & right memory buttons on the mirror until LED flashes.
3. Hold garage door remote control behind mirror (between mirror & windshield).
4. Simultaneously press & hold button on garage door remote control & the button on the mirror until LED changes from slow flash to rapid flash.
5. Release buttons.
6. Press & release training button on garage door opener motor.
7. Return to car; press & release button on mirror programmed in step 4 above.
8. Press & release the same mirror button a second time to complete the training process (some units may require a third press of the button; mine did). The garage door should operate when training is successful.

The key to this is holding the garage door remote close to/touching the backside of the mirror.

now this is the problem i have. I have a fairly new, maybe 2 years old Belt driven Genie motor. im able to get all the cars programmed and working with the motor and its rolling code, except for the BMW's. I have a 2013 Fusion, 2013 Malibu, and an 07 E60 550i all working on the motor. I just recently picked up the 07 E92 335i a week ago and paired the car with the motor, all works fine until the E60 tried to open to garage and it didnt work. So the E60 and the E92 are both fighting for the same code it seems like, so i can only get one to work.

Any help would be fantastic!!!!

Also the Malibu and Fusion are working with no issues.
