How to get that new Jag F Type sounding exhaust

So I test drove the new Jag F Type v6 supercharged and my god it sounds like pure sex. This got me thinking.....what would it take to get our 335s to sound like that. !!!! ?

Swapping in a supercharged V6.

Seriously though, the firing order is completely different and the turbos change the sound too. literally the only thing these engines have in common is the piston count.

If you think the V6 sounds good then you should hear the 5 litre V8. I work in the production facility at jaguar where the f type is made and they are phenomenal cars. The exhaust has active noise valves on the rear mufflers to increase or decrease sound. They are fantastic cars to drive on a track.

+1

However I did used to own a 67 E-type coupe which was a straight 6 also, and exhaust note on it was mesmerizing. Pretty sure it had the same firing order as N54. I do not think with the turbos + FI vs triple SU's we could get the same sound as an E-type but there is definitely room for improvement.

It's easy. You take your car to a Jag dealership and trade it in on that car. Exhaust sounds are a combination of engine type, induction, exhaust, mufflers, length of exhaust, stroke, displacement...blah blah blah

I can vouch for this. Drove F-Type S the other day, and exhaust was unreal. Especially when you press the little exhaust button on the center console.

I have heard about people tuning their 335 exhaust to gurgle and pop more, does anyone know how to do this or have more info?

Chop your mufflers off should do the trick. Add catless downpipes to make gurgle and pop 10x louder. Then learn how to make your car pop-off(slight throttle on deceleration)

I figured it would be impossible to get it to sound exactly the same. But was thinking maybe same ballpark. I've been searching for an exhaust for months. None if our available exhaust come anywhere close to the Jags, I get different car , diff engines , blah blah. But damn. I raced the v6 super charged and beat it off the line. And I tell u. ... When sitting there listening to him revving the engine. I had to just stop and listen.

Part of the sound is because of tuning according to an article I read. It injects a little fuel on the overrun to create the cracks and pops. Possible with ours I would think, the rest of the sounds not so much.

Turbos kill a quality exhaust note, just listen to some videos of cars that were N/A and can be supercharged or turbo'd.

If you want the burble, pop, crack, chances are you'll have to run it a little rich and run a full catless exhaust.
