Quick wash - Few shots - M3 mirrors - Lci's
First wash I've gave the car since I put the LCI rears and m3 mirrors on so thought I'd take a few shots.
No lip on at the moment, will be installing my carbon cps lip in the next day or so And still got the coils wound up for winter so she's not slammed for the time being!

like the mirrors, tempted by a set of them for mine, saving up for suspension refresh first though
side note: not much beading going on there chap, did you wax it before winter? :S |

Looks great! How are the rims holding up against the salt on the roads? One of my LM reps looks worse every time I wash it... time for a refurb when the weather warms up!

Rim's aren't holding up too bad, over here there hasn't been any snow at all, and been pretty mild so apart from the rain it's been ok. Not much salt about on the roads where I've been at all! Although I'm planning a new set of rims for the Summer so I'm not super worried about these. May just give a quick refurb & sell them on when I get a chance as they're still good enough condition for now

How did you know if ur current mirrors have 2 or 3 pin mark as I've heard they vary?
Any way to tell other than taking them apart? After seeing yours installed I'm on mission lol |

I hadn't read much about it before buying them as I had read they were just plug & play and I didn't think there was much else to know after that. Turns out that my non-M mirrors had 5 pins on the connectors (which wasn't found out until taking them off to be replaced) where as my M3 mirrors have 3 pins on the connectors. Meaning when I plugged them in, they don't function fs! I don't know what the difference is with the number of pins, maybe you do.. or someone else but all I know is that I'm either going to have to fix it someway, or sell/swap mine for the right ones! :/ Have just left them on in the mean time and adjusted them but will need to sort it out! Definitely get them though they look so good! Just get the right ones first time lol

Okayyy buddy thank you for the advice!
So what if mine were 3 pins ?! Would you sell yours to moi ? *bellyroll* (I need to check lol). Are yours auto folding and reverse dipping/tilt? |

As far as I can see you'll need to take your door card off and then there's a little wedge at the top corner where the mirror is, if you take that off and have a look you'll be able to tell. It's nice and easy to get at. I know that the ones I've bought aren't auto folding, but my previous ones aren't either so that's why it didn't bother me getting them, I have no idea on what the other functions are or how to tell until I'd have them plugged in and working :/

Yeah that's nt hard at all I've dynamatted my door cards so easy to take the the cards apart but problem is I get
Home at 8 and it's always dark and it's scheduled to rain all damn week! Also, if it's three pins, can u tell by taking off the door cards and seeing three wires coming out (and similarly if 5 pin then 5 wires Coming out?) rather than taking the mirrors off aswell!? Hope That makes sense! |

Hmmm.. now you're asking! As far as I remember the cable leading up to the pins has the wires wrapped so it just looks like one black cable then a plastic rectangular bit at the end with the 3 pins coming out (like my m3 mirrors) or 5 pins coming out (like my previous mirrors) If you take the door card off and just unclip the connection you'll be able to see, no need to unscrew the mirrors or anything. Don't know if anyone with a bit more knowledge knows the reason for different amount of pins, wether it relates to functions of the mirrors or not??? But I've read since a thread with someone who has 3 pins and theirs auto fold/auto dim/ auto dip etc etc :/

Ah, hang on.. maybe not.
Check this thread out http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=506954 the guy's asking about fitting them but you can see the connection with the pins and how they look.

I got lucky and my m3 mirrors were 3pin ones like the old mirrors I took off. Best yet, 2 months later I held my fob down to close the windows and the folded in even though the seller said they were non folding.
You can remove the tweeter cover (or blanks if you don't have them) and see how many pins yours are Awbimmer. You just need to give them a tug and they should come off pretty easily. With 3 pins mine are auto dip and folding but not had a chance to see if they are auto dimming (old ones were auto dip and dimming). |

Wicked guys thank you! So tug the tweeter out ?? Aren't they clipped on ? Will I risk breaking any tabs they could be attached to?
So no need to remove the door cards boys? |
