Am I missing something here in the Coolant Reservoir Tank?

Hi fellas,

So I've been getting low coolant light. When I went to check the Coolant Reservoir Overflow Tank it seemed to have a leak.

I open it to add some coolant then realize there's a gap between the tank and the cap. But the thing is, it doesn't tighten anymore and the arrows matches on top of the cap. Please look at the pictures.

Am I missing something here, like a gasket or something? Or that gap is totally normal even after I've tighten the cap all the way?

I recently had the car serviced and they topped off the coolant. Was something left out?

Thanks in advance.

Just been out to check mine and it looks identical. Two things:

1. Whoever topped it up may have either overfilled or spilled some on the outside of the reservoir.

2. If something is wrong, I'd suspect the cap. I believe it incorporates a pressure relief valve in the cap and this could be failing..?

Check it when it is hot . .if there is pressure on the system you will see the signs. Mine does not have the gap.

I think the gap is normal, but I think the cap is worn out and venting coolant. I'd get a new cap, they are about $15. The cap should screwdown and click into place.

It ended up being the bleeding valve that was broken.
