So my shitty Halfords trolley jack that I've been using for the last year or two and died on me.

Prob from the amount of use it's had + the wieght of my e92 and brothers e60 going up on it quite often + the fact that it's Halfords lol.

I'm looking to buy a new trolley jack.. has to be relatively low entry, the lower the better of course!

Currently I have to drive up on quite a few planks of wood before my jack will get close to going under it which is a pain!

Have read good things about the Sealey 3 tonne jack CLICK HERE which seems to be a very good price??

Very heavy duty, and from reading other reviews on forums very low entry which is all good to me!

Will be left in garage so no need for a lightweight aluminium jack.


Anyone have any recommendations? Main points are that it needs to be low entry, be able to take the weight of the bm's and not really anymore than about £60/70

I have one that is similar to that one and is not very low. Struggles to get under my lowered Golf even after it goes up on wood blocks.

Low ones are always the large ones where the lifting platform is noticeably low to the ground and they are always listed as "low entry trolley jacks".

that sealey one you linked is pretty much the same as the halfords jack's in terms of entry height.

got it from Costco for 70£ on offer a few years ago.

its entry height is 100mm, but tbh your not going to get much lower than that out of a 3T jack!

i notice that company have an ultra low profile one:

they would work yes, but for me its a bit of hassle having to move the car, go get those put them down line them up drive onto them, then get the jack.

rather than just going to get the jack :P

Cheers for the replies lads.. Seems I've been misinformed about the sealers jack then.

Definitely don't want to get a similar height entry as it's a pain in the ass.
Might have to shell out a bit more for a super low one

same here have 2 now one with blown seals! and 1 new one. otherwise its superb and low enough for our track car.

My car's not track low, it's just stupid low.. so I don't know if I'll be able to get one low enough :/ unless I spend real big bucks! Might just have to settle for the same as usual and driving up planks

My brother has the clarke 2 tonne low entry and his car is absolutely slammed on the deck and that gets under his, i have the clarke 3 tonne , my ex car being a vw touareg and it has never failed me in the 2 years of owning it,
Dont go for the cheapest and stay away from ally if your going to keep it in your garage.
Spending £1-150 on a jack that could possibly last you 5+ years is peanuts really

Looks quite good, what sort of height is the lifting pad off the ground? Is it the 100mm that someone mentioned above? Will have a look at it, and the 85mm one that someone else mentioned above

SWMBO bought me a Sealey low profile jack for Christmas
It's a 2500LE I think
Certainly it has a two and a half tonne capacity, and IIRC it has a minimum height of 85mm, with a good maximum too.
It has not a gramme of aluminium on it, so it's a heavy beast, around 38kgs I think. It seems well made. I think she paid (on my card!!) just over £100 for it.

It flies under the E91 335d, her Fabia vRS, daughter's Clio (which has a very low front spoiler rubber) and the Mondeo. Not used it on anything else yet, but I'm expecting work on a VW Transporter soon, so although clearance won't be an issue, it will still handle the weight OK.

P. S. Don't forget, if you're using jacking pads in the standard slots, you'll need an extra few millimetres for them too

I have the liftmaster one. Work perfectly on the bus and the LED uplighters are quite handy!
