So I just purchased a 2007 335i coupe about a month ago. Everything was just fine until about one week ago when i was driving around town on the streets. A light came up on the dash that had an explanation point surrounded by a gear. I pulled over to the side of the road, turned the car off, and turned it back on and it went away. It did it again about 30 min later, but this time after turning the car off, it wouldnt go away. My car seems to be stuck in 3rd or 4th gear. (Stays stuck in 3rd or 4th when i come to stops). Also seems like when slowing down, my 3rd gear somewhat lags/jolts, not noticeable to the "naked eye". But all this just started happening within a week...
From what my knowledge is, is that its in failsafe mode and the computer is sensing a problem. I also did the *clearing trick* while the key is in without engine on, pressing down on the gas for 25-30 sec. I have done this a couple times and still it occasionally comes back. Any help? I'm changing fluids including gear oil this weekend, hopefully may change a little. Any help would be great. thanks!
