Run roh after dp install
Alrighty,
So I installed a BMS catless dp on my 2011 e92 335i yesterday. First impressions: pure awesomeness. Weird issue: once in a while, when I press the gas, nothing happens - at all. I can floor it and the car will go nowhere. After a few seconds, everything goes back to normal. I have a BMS dp, BMS intake, and a JB4 Stage 2. Any ideas? Blown chargepipe? |

I don't quite get it- the car is literally resistant to throttle inputs? Does it rev? Does the motor clearly cut out?
It's almost impossible for the downpipes to be causing what you are describing, you could run the car without downpipes and it wouldn't simply cease responding to throttle. I'm not sure if i've ever heard of such a problem, it could be any number of things electronic or hardware related.

Yeah I'll keep driving it to see if it rounds out.
Correct, throttle does absolutely nothing; no revs or anything. I also did the ISO 5.3 update a few days earlier, but didn't run into any issues until I installed the downpipe. Thanks for the input! |

I can see how the o2 sensors may be swapped depending on the proximity of the two bungs though. I'm not sure if the plugs are interchangeable though.
It sounds more like a large boost leak. If you have can-clear enabled, turn it off and wait for a CEL or visually inspect your charge pipe connections for damage or detachments. Either that or you may have a large exhaust leak but that should be audibly apparent. |

Thanks for the input!
I'll check the charge pipe tomorrow. Hopefully the o2's aren't swapped. I really doubt that there is an exhaust leak. I did it up on a lift at my uncles shop. He helped too. Can clear is disabled. The weird part is that I can run it WOT perfectly fine. It's just ~once per day, I'll hit the throttle casually driving, and there wil be no feedback. |

Yeah will do. It has to be a vacuum issue.
Another thing is that sometimes the car starts hauling if I press the throttle in about 1mm. It feels like downshifting in a steptronic. Something isn't sealed right. |

Alright let's keep this list of problems going!
Now, every few seconds, my fan kicks into hyperdrive and gets really loud. It lasts about 4 seconds, and then starts up again a few seconds after that. It's a continuous cycle. I'm wondering if it has to do with the ISO 5.3, since I did the update one day prior to installing the dp. |

So the water pump failed. I just got it back from the dealership yesterday, who replaced it under warranty.
I removed the intake before taking it to the dealer, but left the JB4 and the downpipe in. The fan issue was fixed by replacing the water pump, and somehow the throttle issue has yet to show its face. However, I did just get a "Service Engine Soon" light on my way into work this morning. Is it possible that the techs forgot to reset it? |

Yeah thought so too.
I'm getting some codes though. 2e4c - normal; exhaust flap actuator unplugged 3106 - catalytic converter 29e0 - charge air temp sensor 29d0 - intake air temp sensor I get the feeling that these are regarding the sensors that the JB4 intercepts. I cleared them before I left work today, drove home, installed my chargepipe, and started her up. The codes were back. |
