As a matter of fact I'm afraid I may have damaged the screen ...God I hope it's spittle from a sneeze or something...(zoom into the top middle area)...

There is a cleaner for lcd tv's, Monster iClean, its about $20 for a small bottle but it apparently works. I think consumer reports tested it against windex and a few other cleaners and it worked best. Check best buy or any place that sells tv's.

Thanks a lot man I'll definitely look it up! I assume I should use a microfiber cloth to clean it. I really hope that's not a section of damage, I guess we'll find out.
Why BMW did away with the plastic screen cover is beyond me- oh wait, they probably saved themselves a whole $20 a car by eliminating it ![]() |

A good quality interior dust cleaner like 1z Cockpit will clean it. Meguiars makes one thats safe for nav screens also. I use it and it doesn't do any damage. I forget the specific name, but its the one in the black bottle with the purple label.

What year is everybody's car in this thread? I know anything past 2011 didn't have that hard plastic screen in front of it. The screen is super fragile, and I don't know why Bmw thought best to cost cut in such a ridiculously impractical way.
I wonder, if it incurs damage is it covered under the factory warranty? |

I went with iDrive's suggestion- snapped up a family size bottle with microfiber cloths- 14.99 and free shipping on Amazon Prime buddy!

actually, it might not be to cut price if they removed the plastic, think about light reflection. Also, they upgraded the screen quality but if covered with plastic it doesn't improve anything.
Im actually jealous, I would like to not have this plastic witch reduce the brightness of the idrive screen |
