n55 gas milage .. general thoughts
Hey guys so my n55 has 26,000 miles on it.. recently I have been wanting to squeeze a better mpg figure out of it. I seem to be getting about 21 mpg at the moment, which isn't that great considering I have been driving like a grandma lately! I have a ppk but I have my jb4 stage 2 set to map 1 as my daily map. I don't really go into "boost range" or give much throttle.. it's also worth noting that I am reading my mpg average off the idrive screen (cic) .. what can really help reach at least around 24 or 25mpg? I only have the tune! would an intake help? the b3 trans flash? what else.. I run 93 oct.

Yeah but even when I did the math it was pretty much spot on. It's all how you drive with the reflash you are in 6th gear at like 35 mph, keeping the rpms lower seemed to help

Yeah, reflash shifts like crazy. Butter smooth, you only notice thru rpm/engine noise. Definitely conservative when light throttle in D with B3

Honestly if you are driving around town it probably won't get much better regardless of what you do. Highway cruising is completely different as far as mileage.
As soon as you give this car gas, the turbo spools. Gas mileage will correspond with how heavy your foot is we all know. If the turbo(s) is working, your mileage will suffer. Let's not forget the impact of inflation in your tires or the season! |

I'm getting around 24MPG on the highway. At first I figured there was something wrong with my car because my old tuned E90 328 was getting over 30MPG on the highway.

It varies a ton by driving conditions. In this crappy cold weather I am getting ~21mpg totally stock in the city, but can get over 30mpg if I am nice to it on the highway. If you figure it out the cost of gas isn't a very big deal. Just drive it and have fun!

In the city where the temps here have been a constant -20c to -35c i get about 10-12 mpg driving like a granny! On the hwy last week driving 115kph i was getting 28-30 mpg. The constant frigid temps totally kill mpg with my car, it rarely reaches full operating temp

I've been tracking my mileage on fully.com since new and I average 22mpg in mixed driving. Personal best on a tank was close to 31 on a highway trip. N55 335 gets better mileage than the wife's 328i.

How the hell are you guys getting such high gas efficiency. I'm getting like 18mpg with no real engine mods just PPK and PE exhaust. 6 speed manual. But then again I drive like a typical BMW asshole.
