How many of you have another car along side you're BMW?

Do you guys just use you're car as you're daily driver ? Or do you have another work horse ?

I'm contemplating buying a cheap car to do the miles in as I have to do a 70 miles commute daily

Not trying to imply my cars a "Garage Queen" but it's fairly new rather do miles in something else

Surely that is exactly what a 320d is for?

I've got a crackin little Y reg Corsa C, had it since brand new, low miles...worth F'all to sell and runs on buttons so use this as my daily to keep the miles off the beemer and as I work as a mechanic, keeps the red leather in the beemer from getting grubby!

In addition to my E92 330d I have a Smart Fortwo diesel ... 0-60 in 16.4, no road tax, 65mpg (Gov't says 83mpg lol) and low insurance.

In fact the 2nd car gets used more than the 330d now which is why that is getting sold and I am getting a Fiesta ST for a bit of fun whilst still being practical as I am not using the Beemer !

I have a transit connect I now use most of the time,I do quite a bit of mobile mechanic work in my spare time, the 330 rarely gets used at all now, did think about selling it but its nice to know you can jump in at anytime and go for a blast

+1 on the second comment, why buy a 320d economical 100 quid a year tax car to have a second car? :S

mines a bit of a show queen if you will had the front end painted so its perfect, but its only a 320d a daily rep mobile commuter! Just enjoy it & use it for its intent & purpose 8)

I've got a VW Crafter for my 60k+ a year mileage and the 318d for the family jobs at the weekend. We've also got a mini which the other half uses for work and then my favourite toy, tucked away in the garage - An early original 3 door Mk3 Golf VR6 with all MOT's from new

Yep, pass me my driving gloves......I have a Volvo V70... 2.4 Petrol.... its an 02 plate.... bit of a beast but I love it for my commute... Ok so I do a fair few miles (approx 100 miles a day) but perhaps only 3 or 4 days a week... but its got leather, auto, climate, heated seats... and VERY comfortable.... soaks up the miles... Yeah I know I should have a diesel one - but mines only done 115k miles and to buy an equivalent diesel with under 200k miles is like double the price of mine.

Its also got 2 pop up seats in the boot which my daughter loves sitting in to pop her to school, or shopping! (Not long trips though)

I have my car and she has her MX5.

My car for the main journeys and her car for top down summer fun.

Second cars really should be compromised fun cars, not everyday cars which pretty much all BMWs are.

Unless you are doing high miles, the cost of keeping a second car will cost as much as you'll lose putting the miles on your BMW.

32 tickets in 3 years. Each fixed penalty is 3 points for speeding. Thats 96 points. Youd have no licence at all and would mayne be in prisin for taking the mick. Lol.

what are all the tickets for as they cant be fixed penalty.

I used to have an E46 M3 as a weekend car but couldn't get on with it. Sold it and used the cash to put to the E90 trade in and bought the 530d.

I will have a second car before the summer but I don't know what yet, just can't decide. Really fancy a Williams or a 309 GTI but then I'm not sure if I want a 197 which turns into wondering if I want a VX220 or an Elise. I even like the idea of a Fiat Panda 100hp!

Mrs FRG has just bought herself an A5 cab in Misano red so that might stop me wanting something else once the sun comes out and I get to use it a bit. Then again, it's a 2.0l diesel Audi so probably not!

I've got an '06 Fiat Panda Auto in Sky Blue! Perfect for sitting in traffic on the North Circular everyday. If its good enough for James May its good enough for me.

The BM is definitely the daily - it's far too practical to be a toy! The other car in the garage generally always has two seats, or close to!
