Caution - CHP out in full force!!!!!

I suggest everyone put on there front plate and try driving with the windows down for now. CHP seems to be out in full force giving citations.

Today, Jason and i were following each other on the freeway going to New Century BMW. We see the cop get on the freeway a few miles back. We dont think anything of it since we are barley doing 70mph and our exit is coming up. He speeds up and tails us for a bit, then flys by us (i guess to check for front plate) and then pulls both of us over on the off ramp for no front plate and tint.

When we got to the dealership, we see a father and son standing there holding there front plate bracket. We talk to them and find out they just got pulled over for front plate ticket as well and decided to drop by the dealership to have it installed.

When i got home and started pw, i found out its not just a coincidence and more people are getting pulled over.

This is just a heads up for those with tints and no front plate. I know i for one am going to double side my front plate on for the time being. Hopefully the cops will calm down and i can take it off later.

You put the front plate on, pay the $10 or $15 processing fee and get it signed off. For tint, you can either A. pay the $10 or $15 fee and take the tint off or B. pay the designated fee, I think from $150-200, and get to keep the tint. The downfall is that this price will get higher and higher every time they pull you over for tint.

This heavy flow of CHP must be in the 626. Around the 818, I didn't notice anything out of the norm.

I'm sure this influx will go down in a week or two max. It happens every now and then with the CHP and LAPD. A while back speeding tickets were issued left and right around here. 40 in 35, 75 on highway, etc.

For the guys who plan on putting the front plate on via double sided tape..you think it will be strong enough to stand the wind and speed?

The double sided tape is very strong and will definitely hold up. Heck, my vorsteiner lip is only held on by the same double sided tape and i've had no problems with the lip sagging or coming off. Even through the blazing heat of so cal in the summer, not once did it feel like the lip is going to fall off.

I do see people get pulled over on the street here in Irvine tho.

I tail a CHP this morning when i got off my community and was about to take the 405N ramp.

If you guys are going to do the double sided tape on the front plate..do it JDM style so that way you will know that you're from E90post if another member drives by you. lol.

yea i know what you mean. I really dont like drilling holes in my bumper though. I mean, i know its not visible unless you look from below but, call me weird, i just dont like it.

I guess if worst comes to worst and the double sided tape wont pass the inspection of the PD, then thats always another option.

i did the double sided tape once. i put it on 3 blocks away from the chp office. it held up when the officer poked at it. sure enough, i go home, i park, and the plate falls off. so be careful.

also, make sure you guys are as honest as possible when they ask you questions. i guess these bastards can check "Uncorrectable" and you pay the $200 fine regardless.

so i guess this is not true anymore?

Doubt it. As long as its physically attached to the front bumper, and clearly visible, you should have no issue. Now if you try to put the front plate inside your car behind the front windshield, THEN your going to have a problem.

Not only that but if you ever get into a accident, that sharp metal plate will become a projectile, that you HOPE wont hit you in any way.
