Bells Line of Road

Sad to hear they've started turning this wonderful stretch of road into something safer for the Camry drivers of Sydney.

Oddly I stumbled onto this road last week on a long lonely drive. As the turns became interesting and ever tighter forced me to go down two gears into the corner and then out the other side (manual don't you know) I suddenly wished I was in my old MX-5.

The E90 is a terrible floating barge outside of its comfort zone - I am sure my old E46 would have coped with the road much better albeit my E90 has stock springs, dampers and 16" RFTs.

One of the nicest roads of punted along alas soon to be no more.

Yeh it's a sweet piece of road. I used to go along it almost every week between doing jobs out in Lithgow and work in Sydney and the Hunter Valley. I've lived in Melbourne for coming up on 7 years now so I've not been along it for a long time but even back then they were starting to roll down the speed limits to suit the lowest common denominator.

The section between the Mt Tomah and the Darling Causeway is especially fun as is the drop/climb out of Lithgow. Bell Bird hill is good too, just gotta keep an eye on the needle when you're near the revenue snapper near the top.

OP its a nice piece of road, used to drive back and forward to Orange form sydney every week to go uni, had a 03 C200 and it was still pretty nice to drive, best part was the going up and down mount victoria, or as me and my friends called it "initial D mountain" lol
Me and my friends are planning a road trip soon down that way, cant wait to try it out in the E92

There are a heap more much nicer roads in that region, Bells Line is to slow there are speed cameras around and HP are there all the time. Check out Google maps for some real fun, you will end up at the same place it will just take a bit longer.

I heard there is going to be some more overtaking lanes added, but do you know what else is planned?

I had a laugh at the police radar sign toward Lithgow.. "Police radar in use - Collecting the road toll" . Before being edited, I think it might have said "Reducing the road toll", or something like that.
