DPF soot level
Hello everyone. I am thinking of getting rid of DPF completely from my 320D, so I wanted to have a look at the soot level in it before making a decision.
Connected to car via OBD using BMWhat and checked the soot level, but instead of giving me % or some other relevant value, it only showed that it is currently at 5.95g (no max weight listed). Anyone know what that might be in %? |

Soot is irrelevant as it's will regenerate the soot it's the by product ash that makes a dpf full? I could see Dpf fill level on my snap on machine by looking through service items

The DPF backpressure is the real test and is covered here
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=880821 Whether backpressure can be converted into ash % I am not sure.

Yep. Have to agree that soot level in grams is meaningless. Checked it again today and it was showing 8.5g instead of 6g.
Makes me wonder when it was regenerated the last time as I did not notice anything while driving. Can't try out DIS as it seems to be PC only and I don't have a laptop. In any case, I'll just keep an eye on soot level, maybe I'll find out the ~ soot weight at which regen is done. |
