Connecting Emulator to e90 CIC - Help!!!!
Hi,
Ive been searching for most of the day and still cant make sense of how to connect a emulator to a CIC unit. I want to make sure i get all the bits before i start and know exactly what im doing before i start. So the questions i have are: 1. How can i make a harness / loom which i can use to connect the emulator to the cic unit. Not keen on cutting incoming wires. Ive seen a few people make their own which makes connecting and removing (if necessary) much easier. Need to know what parts i need to get with some instructions.... 2. Can someone recommend a emulator? 3. Do i have to disconnect the negative on the battery when swapping out the ccc to cic? |

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2613843295...84.m1439.l2649 Although would be good if there was one with the harness already attached: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120977196535 Not sure if this harness is the correct one. Any instructions on how to connect the emulator to the harness (like a pure idiots guide.....) ? |

Despite of you directing OP to leemans, OP wants to buy one from ebay. Awesome! I see your advice getting wasted! It clearly shows how much he trusts forum members. Don't want to comment on OP but clearly I can see why Coder ran away from OP. Good luck with your venture OP.

The purpose of posting the ebay links was purely a response to a member who tried helping by posting a ebay link to a product which in fact was not compatible. If forum members were only allowed to buy from fellow members, this wouldnt be a forum but a marketplace. |

dont get me wrong you obv know our stuff when it comes to the electrical side, but you done this to me on another thread, is leemans your brother or something you seem to get upset about him alot, OP actually asked for his help and looks like reading through his actually bought a part from leemansyou feel the need to shoot people down all the time, I dont know the OP but i respect him for giving it a go, seems like if anyone is trying to do something of there own back and has not cone to you for fitting coding etc, you have to stick your nose in, Sorry OP rant over

I can equally say same about you or about others albeit no point of doing it. Lately, you have stopped doing it.
Thanks for your comment and I will keep that in my mind Quote:
For emulators, few forum members have dealt with him and if there is any issue ever, he always sort it asap. And no I am not on any advantage here but forum members do. Hence another forum member suggested buying from leemans. Quote:
Clearly indicates that OP has made his mind to buy one from ebay. And asking other person if that was the correct emulator. No problem with me but I have encountered problems with these emulators and I know what happens if they go wrong. Do not want to go into the details but not a nice experience. I have spent 2-3 hours trouble shooting cars and at the end discovered that emulators were faulty. Been there, learnt due to mistakes of others and do not want others to go through the same experience. Now, back to your comment. OP was given some suggestion and then he inferred that he wanted to go with his 'searched' item. And hence my comment. Quote:
- I actually suggested OP sometime ago that he was was wasting his time on CCC and he should have gone with CIC retrofit. Completely ignored my suggestion and went through certain .... and now back to CIC retrofit. - A coder stated that he would charge silly cheap price for CCC update. Any normal person would have avoided such person because price was silly cheap. Also, the website was like 'suck my di**' OP went through the hassle which I felt sorry for him. But clearly he wanted to learn from his mistakes and he did.... - There is enough information on the forums. A forum member 'gangzoom' has recently made an attempt to retrofit his CIC. Done a fantastic job and happy with his retrofit. Respect to him as he 'searched', made 'action plan' and followed it through to a 'successful retrofit.' - I am short of CIC kits and I have a waiting list. Buying from me is out of option at the moment. That rejects your hypothesis. - I never suggested OP to come to me for installation. And tbh, if OP would have tried to contact me for this, I would have said 'No'. It is a harsh reality but some people do not want to take advice or do not want to learn from others mistakes....then let them learn by theirs. I hope this put your mind at rest. OP, I did not want to carry on this discussion, but some other members are getting interested so apologies.

1. If i ignored your advice, i would have gone with the CCC. 2. The guy seemed knowledgeable enough over the phone. But then we all learn from our experiences (or mistakes). Hopefully others can learn from mine. 3. Im sure you wouldnt reach out to someone and then just wait for them to reply. Surely were all entitled to shop around?? BTW - I did eventually message lemans but he did not have any emulators. I did however, buy a usb cable / port from him. I ended up buying the ebay emulator (quite hesitantly mind you). 4. Some people are just better at these things than others and have a natural knack. That don’t make them superior !!! Oh, and yes, its certainly not appreciated when people are just waiting to shoot others down. No offence to anyone as I don’t know anyone in person (except the bas****) who screwed my CCC (point 2 above). So hopefully, this now brings this particular argument to a close and I wait impatiently for my stuff to arrive…. |
