Dealership detailing?

Just wondering if anyone has had their car detailed at their dealership, and how it went. I know experience will vary by dealer.

I just got mailed an offer from one of my local dealerships offering a full detail, inside and out, including waxing, detailing trim, moldings, windows, clean and polish rims, thorough vacuum, treat leather/vinyl, and "revitalize" rubber including tires(whatever that means).

All this for $159, which doesn't seem too bad. My car is black(bsm) and I'm terrified to wax it myself because I'm not confident I could do it without swirling it all up.

Let the dealer do it or find a local detail shop?

Find a reputable local shop. Someone who has years of experience and you can see their work. I'm afraid of the dealer when they work on my car no way I'd have them work on my paint work.

I'd avoid it like the plague, I always decline car wash when I bring my car to the dealership. Your best bet is finding a reputable shop in your area. It's actually really fun detailing cars, there's tons of great videos on YouTube from waxing to polishing.

Absolutely not, your paint will be jackhammered when you get it back. They call it the "dealer-installed swirl option." Its some 18yo kid with a sandy brush back there, you would be better off at a touchless gas station car wash to be honest.

I would agree with most comments on here about the dealership being awful with detailing, but its not about the age of the staff they hire, its about the training and experience. I'm 19 and started detailing when I was 15 as a hobby and now its grown into a company when I'm not at college.

Buy some materials and do it your self

look up Adamspolishes.com and its so easy to apply and leaves no swirls. i been doing detailing for many years and its the best polishes and waxes i have used. Zaino is another good product. Adams is easier to apply especially with my arthritis it make a big difference. and i get a lot of compliments for my cars. especially E38. its like glass. both are black
and DO NOT let dealer wax. as gentleman said look at cars in lots bet full of swirl marks

Don't do it!!!
I even refused them to detail the car when I bought it lol
I detail private jets for living that cost millions and millions of dollars and there is no way in hell I would have some punk "detail" my 35k car lol
Honestly I would recommend doing it yourself unless you live close to me lol

I'll pass. Nobody touches my car. I wash, wax, and do all the detailing myself. The dealer might do a good job but I won't chance it.

I've got a shit ton of swirls I need to correct in my clear coat thanks to the previous owner having the dealership polish the paint. I've only just started to work on them and it's already a massive improvement from what it was when I bought the car.

Avoid the dealership like the plague. There are plenty of reputable detail shops out there that let their customer cars do the talking for roughly the same cost.
