Clicking over bumps?
Searched saw nothing, if it's a repost feel free to flame.
Anyway when I'm going slow over speed bumps or something I can clearly hear the rear suspension click once or twice. It bugs me because it's the kind of sound that would seem like it would come if something was loose and moving from one extreme to the other. I say slow because otherwise it would be drowned out, I'm sure it would be there if I was going fast too.

Look at your suspension...some people have noticed that their springs were still on the shipping blocks used to bring the car oversea.
You can always take the car into a dealership and have them check it out, I'm thinking it's probably a loose bolt or nut. |

You sure its definitely in the suspension and not the rear shelf area?

Rear shelf area? I'm pretty sure its the suspension given when it occurs. Like if i go over a speed bump a little sideways it will even make the noise om each rear wheel separately.

Just trying to remove some common things. The rear parcel shelf tends to creak and crack when the body is torsioned a bit. But if youre saying its directly from the suspension is it from both the front and rear?

And you said it was both sides in the rear right? Hmm, have you checked your lug nuts to make sure they were all tightened? OR, maybe one of your exhaust hangers is loose and its knocking on something when the suspension is compressed.

Could be many different things. Check the rear sway bushings. Have someone drive your car over a speed bump while you are walking alongside the car, or hanging out the trunk with your head looking underneath -- make sure your 'friend' really is a good friend before trying this however.

Damn! I have had this exact issue come up on my 335i....hit a bump and you hear a "click". I'd swear its on the rear right of the car. Does anybody else have this? Is there a fix?

Update: Car went in today and the sound is no longer there. It appears that the spring on the rear right brake shoe had lost its tension. It was replaced and noise is GONE!

Today I brought it in for the 2nd round. This time they will change the rear brake pads and the some other parts. They don't have all the needed parts, so they will keep my car until Monday. Hopefully the noise will go away this time. ![]()
