Throwing a bunch of codes - loss of power, please help
Hi All,
Been running a jb+ for around 45k miles and it has been awesome. I had been having some misfires a few months ago but after a walnut blasting and spark plug change the car has been great again; I also installed a BMS catch can while doing this and a DCI. I recently removed the jb+ to upgrade to a jb4 g5 (not yet installed) and have been running stock for about 3 weeks with no issues at all. Last night I took a drive and when accelerating in second gear i noticed it was a bit hesitant in the midrange but didnt really worry... After leaving the concert i went to and waiting to warm up when i was around 6-6500 in 3rd the car went into safe mode and turned off the turbos. I went into neutral (after returning to cruising speed) and hit the power button three times to turn off and then turned the car back on and everything was fine. Was getting good boost down low in all gears but was able to replicate the problem in the higher ranges of second gear. Today i went to pull codes to see what was the issue and i got the following: -2AAF -30FE -3100 can anyone give me any advice for how to deal with these 3, i have seen a few posts about having one or the other but would love some advice. Terri@BMS I know you're an expert with this stuff, if you have any thoughts would really appreciate it. Thanks everyone! |

Believe 30FE is an overboost code but not positive.
2AAF is a plausibility shadow code, I wouldn't worry about that in isolation.

Had the same issue and turned out to be plugs. I would start with that again and see what happens. Then move to coils and then injectors. It's good that you did walnut blast it as the carbon build up on the valves( infamous problem with direct injection vehicles) as it will cause the vehicle to run sluggish and in some cases misfires. Sounds to me like you may have a bad coil or injector or hopefully not both. Good luck with the issue man I hope it's just the coil(s) for your wallets sake.

Check all vacuum lines ensure they are pliable and look perfect if not change them. Check your charge pipe and intercooler connections to ensure they are tight and pressure test if yu have shop air. Check factory diverter valves(Likely culprit) to ensure they are working properly. If all these are correct it is turbo related and usually wastegates/actuators.
