HIFI making weird noises
I have a 328i 2011 lci sedan roughly 40k miles. It cut out while it was raining, when i took it to the dealership they were acting like they have never seen this before. Of course its under warranty but i just want to know if anybody else has experienced this aswell. CDs and auxillary make the same sound also! http://<div class="youtube-playerCon.../iframe></div>

A lot of people have got water on the amp.
A lot of people have got water on the amp.
Usually it goes all the way out(no sound at all)you might want to visually inspect it . That is assuming you have and amp because some of the 2011's with the base system didn't. Drivers side (US) in the rear corner of the car under the trunk floor. Read the pdf's and establish which sound system you have if you have the base system then there is no amp. If you have hi fi or top hi fi then you do. Be sure they fix the leak if this is the case. http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...2&d=1266451970 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...2&d=1260829447 Last edited by ctuna; 03-06-2014 at 12:31 AM.. |

I've got a 2011 328xi Sedan with Base Stereo. I had an intermittent noise on AM, FM, and CD but not on Aux. Radio stuff not associated with bad radio signal. Sort of an overlay of a single frequency and associated harmonics, but not white noise. In other words...it was a single scratchy tone. Usually happened starting the car to go to lunch and then would evaporate when I started after lunch. Never happened first thing in the morning...always alternating. I took phone video of issue, switching from source-to-source each time I started the car over the course of the day. Then I made an appointment with the dealership.
I can confirm what taibanl says: there's an SIB. I think he linked it originally. Turns out I didn't need the video at all. They could reproduce it. If yours is less predictable, the video might still help. My dealership first updated the software. That didn't work, so they kept the car for another day, overnighted in a new HU, and installed. Now works just fine. Edited to add: I couldn't hear your sound either. |

When water isn't spilled on the amp
When water isn't spilled on the amp from something in the
trunk, sometimes clogged drains or bad seals have been reported as a problem. |
