Looks pretty clean, I wouldn't mind having that at all.

Get an aftermarket double din. All of the headunits designed for our cars are junk. It can work with logic 7, but you also need to replace the stock amp and relocate the stock headunit.

Ive heard some of them you dont have to replace the stock amp, thats why im looking at this one specifically. And if you have to replace the amp, than it DOESNT work with logic 7 lol

There is nothing compatible with the L7 amp

There is nothing compatible with the L7 amp
Nobody make a translation device that outputs
the fiber optic signal the L7 requires to work .
Also the L7 has no analog inputs.
If you remove the L7 amp you have removed L7.
The ms-8 has L7 surround sound processing but
it is contained in the ms-8 .
1)So stock L7 amp is where L7 processing comes from
2)No aftermarket head units compatible with OEM L7 amp.
3)Removing OEM amp removes L7 processing .
and this is a 9 channel amp.

4)ms-8 has L7 so your are putting it back in.
If you are not changing the head unit
for this the OEM Head Unit requires reprogramming to Hi FI and a Harness.

If you have a Hi Fi system there is no problem as the output of the Head Unit is analog and so is the Hi Fi amp and there is a analog wiring harness already in place.

So the Ms-8 is an amp that can take the place of the l7?

Its both and amp and processor .

Its both and amp and processor .
Its not much of an amp though it has 8 channels
of head unit power (18watts rms per channel at 4 ohms). Its very popular here though some would argue its had problems with reliability
and its self adjusting the trouble is it doesn't allow
you to self adjust that easily once it has run its auto
tune.

Head Unit info

You should ask the guys that use it
but they have generally said yes but they are usually adding aftermarket amps and speakers at strategic places at the same time.
There is a whole thread on the ms-8.

That particular Head Unit you are looking at is one
of the low quality ones . Read the following before you reach a decision.

bmw325i should give you a little more detailed info
as he has done this or something like it. its not just changing the head unit and your done you have to do a bunch of stuff to make it work right.

I wouldn't recommend the ms8. IMO you are better off replacing the amp with a 4-6 channel amp or two 4 channel amps. You can always get a better processor than the MS8 later on if you decide its necessary. You don't need to amp all of the speakers. Right now I only have my front speakers, underseats, and sub connected. Don't be afraid just because it's a BMW just do some research and we can help you along the way. The hardest thing to integrate is the pdc chimes, but there are a few ways to do it and with a double din you can get a backup camera so I don't see why you'd need them anyways.

Hmm.. So in one of the pictures it looks like this unit is working with the factory idrive screen. Wonder how that would work?

On the last picture of the unit (towards the bottom), if you look at the top, you can see a bit of the idrive screen.

You don't need an idrive screen that is just how Mathematics had his setup since he had idrive.

This dash kit is the best out there since it is the only one that is flush and requires no modification.
http://www.mybimmer.net/E9x_doubledintrim.htm

The connects2 harness is the best option for installing the headunit and retaining the steering wheel controls.

I'm sure the reviews for a Kia are pretty good as well, but that doesn't mean it is the same quality as a BMW. Trust me you'd be better off with a Kenwood, Alpine or Pioneer.
