boost?

I just installed an ECS vent gauge. Im not sure if the readings are right but im only pushing 5psi. Im tee'ing the vaccum source right before the diaphram valves, i bealive thats the correct spot. I just need to know if readings are right. BTW i have a 09 335i coupe auto.

Im thinking I installed the filter in the wrong place. Im just going to take filter out and see if that solves problem.

At stock I believe the boost is 8psi midrange then tapers to 5psi up top. So you may want to look into what boost should be at specific rpm's.

Well i floored it and it hits 5psi and tapers down slowly to 4psi.

You should take the source from the intake manifold as that is the most accurate spot.

Did you have any problem installing the green wire? The zeroing wire? Mine is fine, but that doesn't work. Can't seem to get power to it. I think the harness is messed up.

The green wire needs to go to the yellow and red wire on the climate control harness (black) connector.

Ok I will tap into the intake manifold. I was just following ECS install. Where exactly is the source on the intake manifold?

The small black nipple towards the firewall behind the throttle body. The stock DV's have a black fabric braided line that runs between it and them.

Have you had your intake runners walnut blasted? There's a good chance your vacuum and boost readings are off because of carbon build up. What your digital readouts on software show will be definitely be different from what your mechanical readout shows on the boost gauge if you have heavy deposits.

There's also the less expensive test which involves plugging the line directly into where the DV's are plugged in on the intake manifold. When you do this, stick a golf tee or something similar into the DV's open line so there's a hard seal and no vacuum is leaking (don't rev the engine, just let it idle so you can see what your vacuum pressure is). If your gauge reads around 11inhg then it isn't a vacuum issue due to carbon deposits. It's a line tapping issue which is a lot simpler fix (ie: wrong location or bad seal around the boost lines).

No i havnt had runners walnut blasted, probably should. When you say 11inhg is that at iddle?

11 inches of mercury at idle. Yes. And actually, double checking the charts, I'm off by quite a lot in that measurement. At your altitude you should be pulling closer to 21inhg. The reason I was saying 11 is because of my altitude. For example, if you had a Tial BOV, you'd be running a yellow spring (calculated for roughly 20-21inhg vaccum) whereas I am running a white spring ( calculated for roughly 12-15inhg)

IDK if it matters but is that 21inhg on cold start? I will double check my readings this evening.

The correct measurement would be at idle when the vehicle is fully warmed up.

I removed the filter that was provided with the gauge kit and now I'm able to boost up to 8psi.
