2011 n55 fault codes 2DD6, 2DD8 valvetronic

Having problems with codes 2DD6 2DD8
valvetronic sensor signal implausible, open signal to the servo motor.

When engine is off, the engine constantly will make "rattle" noise every 10 minutes.

What could this be?

When engine is cold, all is fine. Soon as the engine warm up I get those two codes. What could be the problem? Engine only has 32k miles.

valvetronic servo number 11377603979

Eccentric shaft, valvetronic motor and eccentric shaft sensor.

The rattle noise I'm guessing you are hearing is the gears on your eccentric shaft binding when the motors trying to actuate it

Thanks guys, just picked a new valvetronic servomotor today. Seems like a pretty straight forward replacement.

I think the part was around $500 and took about 6 hours to do. It's not too difficult, take off the valve cover, remove injectors 1&2 and surrounding section, then slowly spin the eccentric shaft to remove the stops, then remove servomotor. Make sure you have new decouplers for the injectors and caps for the tips while they are off.

It took me only 2 hours to replace the servo motor but I am mechanic. It may be difficult for someone who never works on cars

I thought you only needed to remove the two coils next to the valvetronic motor. Are you sure the fuel injectors have to be removed? Is there a good DIY guide for this?

You have to remove all of the coils as you have to take the VG off. There are two "chambers" (im not sure what to call them) that have the 1+2 and 3+4 injectors in them. BMW says to remove all 4, but I did it just fine with removing 1+2 and their chamber. Once you take off the VG you will understand what I mean. I dont think there is a diy.

Did you drive it after you heard the noise? Did you get it fixed?

If you are asking me, I drove with the sound for 3 months before a code popped up. Idle was a little rough and lost 1-2 mpg so was hard to identify until the code.

I drove it for a few months after the code would not go away, same thing slightly wonky idle on warm up but power and driving were fine. I don't pay enough attention to notice if mpg changed.
