ECU reset with Cobb

Newer purchase '11 335is. Cobb not loaded yet going to dealer soon. Was reading some history code and decided to clear codes and reset ECU. Warning came back on AP to turn off motor. It was off and just ignition on like I've hundred time before on my other N54s. Can't recall if I've tried to reset without Cobb being loaded.

Sorry for not being more clear.

When selected RESET ECU...why would the AP tell me to turn the engine off, when it was already off.

Not sure if common problem or normal if cobb map not loaded.

When you say “off”, that could mean one of several things. Motor off? Key fob in the ignition? Was the car in a “ready” state ie lights etc on, but motor off?

I agree the accessport can be finicky when it comes to the reset. That’s why I use a BT cable.

It was probably instructing you to turn the ignition off.

+1. After it resets your ECU, it does tell you to turn off your car to complete the process.
