I would say bms is best bang for the buck considering I have one, it's 3' so no lag, you don't need 5' DP all that would do is create lag.. I'm assuming... Don't quote me lol but without a tune I think I'm pushing roughly 10hp gain and 15tq to the crank I'm assuming.

Nobody makes downpipes that big anyways and pretty much all of the offerings for the 335i are similar in design and offer similar gains. The BMS and VRSF are both quite popular and are a good bit cheaper than ARs ore some of the others but gains should be similar.

what?!?!?

a few brands (AA is one) that has a flange which is not needed for support as aftermarket DPs need to move somewhat (with the car) since they do not have the flex neck near the top of the DP (Akrapovic does but they cost a bazillion dollars). Most aftermarket DPs do not run a support flange.

Drone comes down to the cat-back system the car is running (stock or aftermarket). If you keep your secondary cats on, there is no drone. E92's can drone with DPs because they don't have the secondary cats. Welding in resonators can fix that right up.

Downpipes generally increase the lifespan of the turbos due to the release of back pressure

as far as power goes a catless downpipe is a catless downpipe. Even 2.5" or gutted stock flow plenty for each 3cyl bank. Buy based on fitment/quality/price etc. Basically buy based on everything but which makes the most hp. a single 2.5" DP can and do support 300whp all the time (I come from turbo 4cyl) and I've seen COUNTLESS 500-600whp thru a single 3" DP so all your really wanting to do is remove the cats as sizing is more than enough for anything your likely to throw at it. everything else related to size (full 3", tapered etc) is just sales jargon. I get a real kick out of the massive 4" N55 DPs for all whopping 350whp ceiling.
