haze on paint after buffing compound
Hi... I just got my 2006 Jet Black 325i 2 weeks ago and I am super happy with it! Except..... I wanted BMW to get rid of some small scratches and swirls I saw on the paint and when I took it in, they put a "compound" on it and buffed it. So now when the sun hits it, I see some haze on the hood.
I washed it with dawn, used the clay bar, waxed it and it got better but I still see the haze. Do you know how I can get rid of it? Other than that I am extremely happy to be a new BMW owner and happy I joined the forum ![]() |

sounds like they forgot to polish it after they buffed out the scratches!!
A good one step polish should take care of that no problem!

wrong section but anyway I suggest doing everything over being that the dealer doesn't know much about detailing. Check out the Detailing section we have a really great sticky that could help you out on everything you come by.

You are seeing dealer induced swirls. If you have access to a Porter Cable dual action polisher and a mild polish they should be fairly easy to remove. e90ice had this issue with his black saphire and we removed the swirls using a polishing pad and Poorboy's 2.0 polish.

You would need to go over it with a lighter polish to get rid of the hazing, before applying your LSP (last step product - wax or sealant).
When taking out imperfections, a overly aggressive approach can cause this. |

As others have mentioned, you need a quality finishing polish with abrasives to remove the hazing. My first choice would be Menzerna PO106FF. This is the premier finishing polish out there, but should be applied with a quality buffer for maximum results. Another great option is Menzerna Final Polish II. George |
