Somebody crashed into my 335d :(
Hey all
I did post this in my car clean thread but today this went into the bodyshop after some woman hit me while i was on a dual carridge way ell, Got hit in this today Dual carriage way, some roads turn out into out. Speed is reduced to 50mph for this zone. get close to a area where people join the road and i see a white van, carry on but as I get closer I see her looking the other way and not the way i was coming, she starts creeping out. I'm heavy on the brakes to not t bone her but also pulling to the right where I had some space but it was not enough and this happened. One of them things i suppose, i was a little shaken as in 11 years of driving got rear ended about 8 years ago and now this. Worst thing was my little girl was in the passenger seat? which is where the impact was. She wasn't expecting the bang however she was just perfect not even upset. We both have stiff necks. The lady called her inusurance who in turn called me stating they accept full liability and want to sort it without involving my insurance. They have aranged collection to a approved BMW Garage of my choice, sorted a loan executive car and are calling back Monday to find out if we need medical attention. Really cannot complain i suppose. damage looks better than it is, the internal part where the door shut is rather bad. where she pulled out from the damage, sorry scratch to her motor |

It has gone into a bodyshop earlier
Has anybody got any experience with quarter panel repairs? how big a job etc? Well I gave it a clean today as it was due one and I wanted to make sure the body shop who received it saw that I care about the car, the last clean was a full polish wax affair so I knew it would clean up well. Bit sad I suppose and it hit home about the damage lol really is rubbish looking at the car like this assume it will leave me tommorow or day after, not sure what the right of value will be but apparently a door from BMW is 2k? |

Unlucky pal. Hope it gets sorted to your satisfaction. Apart from the damage it looks the ticket.

Had a little bump in mine that smashed in the rear quarter panel and rear suspension, all the work came to 8.5k!!!
So im pretty sure that's gonna cost a bit!! She definitely picked the wrong car to smash into |

I'd smash her. Hard to tell, but I reckon I would.
What's with all the "stiff necks" shit? I'd be more than surprised if she had one and can you really get whiplash from a side impact like that? Not being funny and I'm sorry that you had a bump, but it was a side on that your car doesn't seem to have come off all that badly on compared to the damage you'd expect if it were a full on t-bone? Maybe I'm just being a cunt, but it just seems that there's been a spare of people on here of late that have been getting on, or trying to convince other to get on the whiplash claim train! |

I thought the same.
When I got back into my car and set myself up I thought good job is wasnt from the back as I would have whiplash. However I soon realized I couldn't tilt my head. I then asked my daughter if her neck was ok and she said the same. I suppose being a side impact still shoved our necks unexpectedly but it may just be muscle damage time will tell. Good news is the car is being repaired. The repairer reckons around £4-5k |

Ah, I misread that as the other driver was saying she had whiplash.
Hope the little one is ok. |

Insurance premium rise after an accident. Most likely it would be more expensive to pay the premium for the rest of your life or whatever time period it is in this case, than just fix the car on you expense.

Thing is if her insurance called to tell you they want to settle themselves without insurance the damage if you can excuse the pun is already done. They know and will penalise her regardless of who pays. It's a no claim discount but the basic premium always asks whether you've had an accident regardless of fault. Some insurers then ask who's fault and who paid but not all.
Your insurance will unfortunately increase a little too if you declare it which is the only reason I'd let her settle herself. Make sure you get it in writing: after she sees the quote !!! |

Bad luck my 2004 X5 was written off for less damage than that (in 2009 when it was 5 years old), if you had gone through your insurers they probably would have written it off.
I bought mine as a CAT D damaged car and got it repaired myself, it was damaged all down the passenger side. The rear quarter, rear door and rear quarter were dented, but that was the only damage on the car, it looked like it had left the road and slid sideways into a fence or something:

Would be interesting to see how they take care of the structural aspects in the creases around the b pillar. Imagine it's like those paper bridges you did at school. Robust until one unwanted crease is made.

Hi guys
Sorry the person who crashed into me has gone through her insurance. However direct line have taken full responsibility and gave me the choice of involving my insurance or just dealing with them directly while they sort the car out and give me a loaner etc. Seemed easy so thats what I have done. |

That's okay. They don't want *your* insurer claims manager billing them and would much rather have their own team represent both sides! Make sure you choose the garage and put them on the spot regards strength of resulting repair.

Picked this up today. You would not believe my luck?
Job was decent to be fair done by a local bodyshop. Pleased to be back in it as the 520D I was given was so slow lol.. For reference the repair was sub 4k Anyway collect the car, and drive to my local supermarket, park right out the way in the corner of the car park take a snap to show a few friends on fb etc. Go in for a 5 mins, come out and notice a scratch on the tailgate, looks very fresh. Assumed it was bodyshop went back but they were closed so I went back to the supermarket and got a half size trolley... Oh yes you guessed it in that 5 mins somebody decided to ram a trolley into the back of my car gutted does not come close, no CCTV. I have never let me car get scratched or battered in anyway, it doesn't have one parking ding or anything. Parked in the spot (yes i know parking lines but this is the edge of the carpark so nobody can park to the left of me. came out to this under and above the P |
